Tesla's Robot Team Launches Supply Chain Factory Audits in the Yangtze River Delta; Multiple Companies Have Already Received Orders

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 21, industry chain sources disclosed that Tesla's robot team launched a new round of factory audits last week at supply chain companies including Tuopu Group, Sanhua Intelligent Controls, and Joyson Electronics, with visits covering Ningbo, Hangzhou, Shanghai, and other areas in the Yangtze River Delta. The companies involved mainly supply core electromechanical components such as humanoid robot joint modules, actuators, and precision structural parts. Industry chain sources also said that some of the companies participating in this round of audits had previously received orders related to Tesla's humanoid robots, and that the audits covered production line quality, manufacturing consistency, compliance, and mass production readiness.

Tuopu Group responded on September 18 that Tesla-related R&D personnel have long carried out automotive and robotics business cooperation at its Ningbo plant, and that the company is currently engaged in product cooperation around linear actuators, rotary actuators, and dexterous hand actuators. Tuopu Group's 2026 semi-annual report shows that the company's linear actuators, rotary actuators, and dexterous hand motors have entered the small-batch delivery stage, while mass production capacity is being built simultaneously for body structural parts, foot dampers, and electronic flexible skin, and the first phase of its robot components industrial base has been basically completed.

Sanhua Intelligent Controls has incorporated bionic robot electromechanical actuators into its emerging business layout. The company's 2026 semi-annual related announcement shows that its robot electromechanical actuator business continues to advance R&D and industrialization; its Hangzhou Future Industry Center involves a total investment of approximately 5 billion yuan, with construction content including a robot servo electromechanical actuator project, a domain controller project, and an intelligent variable-frequency controller production base, and the overall project is scheduled for completion in 2027. On September 18, company staff said that it is currently cooperating with a major customer on the development of robot joint actuators.

Joyson Electronics has formed robot component product lines including dexterous hands, robot controllers, AI head assemblies, electronic skin, and energy management. The "Lingxi" dexterous hand released by the company in July adopts an in-palm integration and hybrid drive solution, features 20 degrees of freedom, and integrates three drive modes: direct drive, tendon drive, and linkage drive; products such as robot controllers have already been supplied in mass production to leading robot companies. Joyson Electronics is also conducting humanoid robot industrial scenario adaptation and training at its Ningbo plant, and has identified thousands of workstations suitable for humanoid robots within its own manufacturing system.

Tesla has previously carried out multiple rounds of robot factory audits in China's supply chain. A round of work from September 2025 to early 2026 involved links such as actuators, reduction mechanisms, controllers, encoders, roller screws, dexterous hand sensors, and torque sensors; in July this year, supply chain information showed that Tesla required some suppliers to increase the supply capacity of related components to 1,000 units per week by September and to continue advancing subsequent capacity building. This Yangtze River Delta factory audit corresponds to a new checkpoint for verifying new production lines and supplier manufacturing capabilities.
