en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 22, Sensolus and Gemba Systems announced that their industrial IoT asset tracking system has been deployed in Pratt & Whitney Canada's manufacturing operations to track the location and usage status of transfer carts, racks, and other movable manufacturing assets in aero-engine production. The system uses low-power IoT trackers, a cloud platform, and in-factory positioning capabilities to digitize material flow processes that previously relied on manual searches and paper records.

This deployment focuses on the internal logistics links in aero-engine manufacturing. Engine components need to flow between multiple machining, inspection, assembly, and temporary storage processes, and different processes use a large number of specialized transfer containers and transport carriers. The Sensolus system equips these movable assets with tracking tags, enabling factory personnel to view their current location, historical movement trajectories, and asset status, and reducing production waiting caused by tool searches, misplacement, or untimely turnover.

The system does not directly track the aero-engine itself, but serves the logistics and production auxiliary assets used in its manufacturing process. Gemba Systems is responsible for project integration, connecting Sensolus hardware and software platforms to Pratt & Whitney Canada's existing manufacturing environment and configuring them according to the factory's material flow and production processes. After deployment, production and logistics personnel can query asset locations through a unified platform, improving material visibility on the production floor.

Aero-engine production has high requirements for component traceability, process connectivity, and manufacturing takt time. Once internal logistics assets are misplaced, it is easy to cause process waiting. This IoT system mainly addresses on-site management issues such as "where are the transfer containers, are they available, when do they move, and do they enter the correct process," and provides a data foundation for subsequent asset utilization analysis, abnormal dwell identification, and process optimization.

Sensolus's industrial tracking solutions typically use low-power wireless communication and operate in conjunction with a cloud-based asset management platform, suitable for in-plant turnover boxes, racks, tool carts, and other non-fixed equipment. This application at Pratt & Whitney Canada is a real factory deployment in an aviation manufacturing scenario and has entered the production environment use stage, not a proof of concept or a mere technology demonstration.

Pratt & Whitney Canada is a manufacturer of aero-engines and auxiliary power units, with multiple R&D and manufacturing facilities in Canada. The newly added nodes in this system deployment are concentrated on manufacturing site digitization and internal logistics management, and do not involve building new plants or adding engine production lines. Public information currently does not disclose the specific number of factories covered by the system, the number of tracking tags, the project amount, or the subsequent expansion scale.
