China Road and Bridge Recommended to Undertake BDT 362.996 Billion Industrial Park Infrastructure Project in Bangladesh

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 23, Bangladesh's Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase approved a procurement proposal worth BDT 362.996 billion for the "China Economic Industrial Park Supporting Infrastructure Project," with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) recommended as the contractor for the works package. The scope of works covers infrastructure including internal roads, water storage facilities, natural gas pipelines, sewage treatment facilities, a multipurpose jetty, and substations within the park.

The project falls under the supporting infrastructure construction of the China Economic Industrial Park in Anwara, Chattogram Division, Bangladesh. The project is being implemented by Bangladesh's investment authority, and the procurement proposal dated September 23 was submitted by the Bangladesh Prime Minister's Office to the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase for review. Funding is jointly provided by a Chinese government loan and Bangladesh government funds.

This procurement covers the park's physical infrastructure and utility engineering systems. The internal roads handle traffic organization within the park; the natural gas transmission facilities, substations, and water supply facilities provide energy and utility engineering conditions for industrial projects entering the park; and centralized sewage treatment facilities and a multipurpose jetty are also included. The above works constitute the main infrastructure system required for subsequent enterprise settlement and production facility construction in the industrial park.

Engineering arrangements for CRBC's participation in the project had been initiated earlier. In August 2023, the relevant committee on economic affairs of Bangladesh granted in principle approval for CRBC to participate in project implementation. Subsequently, the project went through bid document submission, technical and commercial evaluation, and price negotiations, and this procurement proposal has now entered the approval stage of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase. Currently available public information indicates the approval of the works procurement proposal and the recommendation of CRBC as contractor; the formal contract signing date and specific construction period have not yet been made public.

The China Economic Industrial Park is located in the Anwara area of Chattogram. The Bangladesh government approved the park's supporting infrastructure project in June 2026, with the total project investment announced at that time at approximately BDT 41.89 billion, of which approximately BDT 24.67 billion was planned to be provided through a Chinese government loan.
