Subsea7 Awarded Contract Extension Worth Up to USD 150 Million for Phase 3 of Turkey's Sakarya Gas Field

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 23, Subsea7 announced that it had been awarded a contract extension by Turkish Petroleum Offshore Technology Center (TP-OTC) for Phase 3 development of the Sakarya gas field. The additional scope of work includes towing, mooring line installation, and connection operations required for the commissioning of the Phase 3 floating production unit, with the related engineering to support the unit's entry into operation in 2028. Subsea7 will manage project management and engineering work from its Istanbul office, and the related work has officially commenced.

Subsea7 classified this contract extension as "sizeable," which under the company's contract classification standards corresponds to a value range of USD 50 million to USD 150 million. The newly added scope is mainly focused on offshore positioning of the floating production unit and mooring system construction, forming a link with the previous Phase 3 subsea umbilical, riser, and flowline system engineering.

Phase 3 development of the Sakarya gas field had previously awarded Subsea7 the subsea umbilical, riser, and flowline system EPCI contract in August 2025. That contract was classified by Subsea7 as "major," corresponding to a value range of USD 750 million to USD 1.25 billion. In March 2026, TP-OTC additionally awarded Subsea7 the Goktepe gas field tie-in project, with scope including approximately 20 kilometers of flexible pipelines, 120 kilometers of umbilicals, one rigid production riser, and associated subsea equipment, with offshore construction planned for 2027 to 2028.

According to TP-OTC's current plan, Phase 3 of the Sakarya gas field will add a subsea production system, a floating production unit, and an export pipeline, while continuing to increase the number of production wells. TP-OTC project information shows that Phase 3 plans to add approximately 20 million cubic meters per day of natural gas production capacity, and after all project phases are completed, the overall net production capacity target for the Sakarya gas field is approximately 40 million cubic meters per day.
