Seatrium Completes LNGT Türkiye FSRU Conversion and Sets Sail

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 23, Singapore-based offshore engineering company Seatrium and Turkey's Karpowership held a naming and sail-away ceremony for LNGT Türkiye at Admiralty Yard, marking the completion of the vessel's conversion from an LNG carrier to a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU). LNGT Türkiye is the last of the seven-vessel FSRU conversion series between the two parties, a program launched in 2018 and now fully completed.

The conversion involved the integration of cryogenic systems, marine systems, and gas processing systems. After completing the conversion, LNGT Türkiye will be incorporated into Karpowership's LNG-to-Power business system, operating in coordination with its floating power generation vessels to provide LNG receiving, storage, and regasification capabilities for relevant projects. The seven converted vessels are LNGT Africa, LNGT Asia, LNGT Europe, LNGT Antarctica, LNGT Americas, LNGT Oceania, and LNGT Türkiye.

LNGT Türkiye entered the Seatrium shipyard in the third quarter of 2025. Progress disclosed in June this year showed that the vessel's basic and detailed design had been completed, long-lead equipment procurement was approximately 90% complete, most key equipment had been ordered and delivered, overall construction progress was approximately 80%, mooring system installation had been completed, and the regasification system was in the installation phase, with delivery at that time planned for the third quarter of 2026. This sail-away indicates that the project has completed the final conversion and delivery milestone.

Seatrium and Karpowership continue to cooperate in advancing floating natural gas infrastructure. Following the delivery of LNGT Türkiye, the two parties' eight-year, seven-vessel FSRU conversion series has fully concluded. Seatrium stated that it has undertaken more than 90% of the world's floating storage unit and FSRU conversion projects, with related engineering capabilities covering hull modification, cryogenic systems, regasification facilities, and marine system integration.
