China's Xinfa Group Plans to Participate in Comprehensive Development of Kazakhstan's Kolzhat Deposit

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 25, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Zhang Guichun, President of China's Xinfa Group, to discuss the comprehensive development of the Kolzhat deposit in Almaty Region and cooperation on critical materials. Tokayev proposed that the project be advanced under an integrated industrial chain model, with facilities for semi-coke, hydrogen, syngas, and high-quality petroleum product production built on the basis of resource development, with plans to create approximately 2,000 long-term jobs.

Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan hopes to attract large investors with full industrial chain capabilities, introducing processing and manufacturing segments alongside resource development. Xinfa Group is already advancing large-scale industrial investment projects in Kazakhstan, and this Kolzhat deposit cooperation further extends into coal chemical and deep processing areas.

The talks also covered cooperation in the field of critical materials. Zhang Guichun presented Xinfa Group's plans to further expand investment in Kazakhstan, and the two sides will continue project assessment around comprehensive resource utilization, chemical product production, and supporting industrial systems. Currently available public information has not yet disclosed the specific resource volume of the Kolzhat deposit, the total project investment amount, designed production capacity, or construction timetable.

Xinfa Group has previously advanced a large industrial park project in Pavlodar Region, Kazakhstan. The project has a total planned investment of approximately USD 15 billion and is planned to build an alumina, electrolytic aluminum, and aluminum deep processing industrial chain, with planned annual capacities of 4.8 million tons of alumina, 2.4 million tons of electrolytic aluminum, and 1.2 million tons of aluminum deep processing products. The Kolzhat project and the above-mentioned aluminum industrial park are not the same project. WeDoAny had previously published a node on the Pavlodar industrial park; this Kolzhat deposit represents a new cooperation in comprehensive resource development.
