Pacifico Energy Secures Offshore Survey Permit for 1.3GW Offshore Wind Project in Vietnam

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Pacifico Energy Vietnam announced that its Nam Trung Bo 3 offshore wind project off the coast of Lam Dong Province, Vietnam, has obtained an offshore survey permit approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam. The project has a planned installed capacity of up to 1.3GW and has been included in Vietnam's revised Power Development Plan VIII, with a target commercial operation date of 2031–2035. This permit will allow the developer to conduct technical and environmental surveys in the approved sea area, laying the foundation for subsequent project design, investment decisions, and approval work.

According to the current plan, Pacifico Energy will first conduct desktop studies and preliminary site assessments, based on which it will formulate a detailed offshore survey plan. On-site surveys are scheduled to begin in 2027, including geotechnical investigations, geophysical surveys, wind measurement, meteorological and oceanographic monitoring, environmental baseline surveys, and other site technical assessments, providing data support for the design of wind turbine foundation types, submarine cable layout, offshore substation facilities, and construction plans.

With the permit obtained for the Nam Trung Bo 3 project, Pacifico Energy's offshore wind development pipeline in Vietnam has expanded to approximately 1.8GW. In February of this year, the company obtained an offshore survey permit for the 500MW Nam Bo PE2.1 offshore wind project off the coast of Ho Chi Minh City. Together, the two projects constitute its main offshore wind project portfolio currently being advanced in Vietnam.

Pacifico Energy entered the Vietnamese market in 2017 and has previously completed the development of the 40MW Mui Ne solar project and the 30MW Sunpro wind project in the country. It is currently advancing approximately 2GW of power projects at various stages in Vietnam. In addition to Vietnam, the company is also developing multiple large-scale offshore wind projects in South Korea, forming an offshore wind development pipeline of more than 10GW in the Asia-Pacific region.
