Osisko Metals drills 211.5 meters at 0.59% copper at Gaspé copper mine in Canada

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 28, Osisko Metals announced the latest assay results from the 2026 drilling program at the Gaspé Copper project in Quebec, Canada. This batch of data includes 28 mineralized intercepts from 12 drill holes. Among them, hole 30-1243 intersected 211.5 meters of mineralization averaging 0.59% copper outside the scope of the existing 2026 mineral resource model, including a high-grade interval of 28.5 meters averaging 2.31% copper and 11.8 g/t silver. The hole is located on the north slope of Needle Mountain and represents step-out drilling outside the open pit footprint.

In the same batch of results, hole 30-1236 intersected 86.5 meters averaging 1.36% copper, including 18 meters averaging 4.53% copper and 23.3 g/t silver; hole 30-1239 returned 63.8 meters averaging 0.98% copper, including 16.1 meters averaging 2.54% copper and 8.98 g/t silver. Both holes, along with hole 30-1243, are located approximately 500 to 600 meters west of the 2026 resource model and form part of the project's westward resource expansion drilling.

In addition, hole 30-1237 intersected 81.2 meters averaging 0.50% copper within the existing conceptual open pit but in an area previously treated as waste rock, including 5 meters at 2.29% copper; hole 30-1245 returned 201 meters averaging 0.33% copper from infill drilling; and hole 30-1241 intersected 54 meters averaging 0.44% copper from in-pit expansion mineralization. Osisko Metals classifies this round of drilling into three categories: resource infill, in-pit step-out, and out-of-pit step-out, respectively used to upgrade resource categories, convert some in-pit waste rock areas into mineral resources, and identify new mineralized zones outside the existing resource model.

The Gaspé Copper project's mineral resources were updated in April this year. According to company disclosures, the project's open-pit constrained measured and indicated resources total approximately 1.83 billion tonnes at an average copper-equivalent grade of 0.32%; inferred resources total approximately 239 million tonnes at an average copper-equivalent grade of 0.46%. The project site historically produced copper concentrate continuously from 1955 to 1999. Osisko Metals acquired a 100% interest in the project from Glencore Canada in July 2023, and its current focus has shifted to resource expansion and preparation for subsequent mine redevelopment.

Osisko Metals has published multiple batches of Gaspé drilling results this year. On September 10, the company reported that hole 30-1228 returned approximately 256 meters averaging 0.85% copper, including 28.5 meters averaging 4.74% copper and 27.4 g/t silver. The September 28 data continue to advance the mineralized extent westward of Needle Mountain, and the company plans to incorporate the new drilling results into its next mineral resource update.
