YKK India Launches Construction of a USD 150 Million New Plant in India

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 25, YKK India held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new plant at the ORIGINS by Mahindra Chennai industrial park in Tamil Nadu, India, officially launching the construction of its third manufacturing base in India. The total project investment is USD 150 million, covering land, buildings, machinery and equipment, and other construction costs; the plant site covers an area of 149,936 square meters, with a planned building area of 74,658 square meters, and construction is scheduled to be completed in February 2028.

The new plant is located in Eliambedu Village, Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu, specifically on Plots 9, 10, and 11 of ORIGINS by Mahindra World City. YKK India's existing manufacturing base is located in Haryana in northern India. Once the new plant is completed, it will form a coordinated production layout across the north and south, serving both India's domestic apparel manufacturing and export-oriented manufacturing customers.

YKK India's main business is the manufacture and sale of zippers and other apparel fastening products. This new plant is not merely leased warehousing or sales facilities, but adds complete manufacturing capability, and the project investment explicitly covers factory buildings and production equipment. According to YKK's disclosure, the new base will integrate its existing manufacturing technologies and operate in coordination with its two plants in Haryana.

The project was first announced by YKK on June 4, and on June 18, Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai further confirmed YKK India's entry into the ORIGINS Chennai industrial cluster; after the groundbreaking ceremony on September 25, the project moved from the investment decision and park landing stage into the actual construction stage. The next clearly defined milestone is the construction of factory buildings and equipment, with the new plant to be completed by February 2028.

ORIGINS by Mahindra Chennai is developed by Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai Limited, a joint venture established by Mahindra World City Developers and Sumitomo Corporation. YKK India's project is located within this integrated industrial park, and the plant land and construction scale have been determined, but YKK has not yet disclosed the specific zipper production capacity, number of production lines, or equipment configuration of the new plant.
