en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 30, Trina Storage announced that the Albispark battery energy storage project, developed in partnership with independent power producer Prosolia Energy, has been put into operation in Castelo Branco, Portugal. The project features a 15MW/60MWh battery energy storage system and forms an integrated solar-plus-storage facility with an existing 34.4MWp photovoltaic plant. This is Trina Storage's first battery energy storage project to be commissioned in Portugal, and also Prosolia Energy's first international utility-scale hybrid storage project.

The energy storage system is directly connected to the 150kV high-voltage transmission grid. According to project owner Prosolia Energy, the original Albispark photovoltaic plant covers approximately 74 hectares and utilizes fixed-tilt and single-axis tracking systems, with annual solar power generation exceeding 50 million kWh. The newly added energy storage system can store surplus power from the photovoltaic plant and deliver electricity to the grid during subsequent periods.

Trina Storage provided a complete utility-scale energy storage solution for the project, including Elementa battery containers, power conversion system (PCS), medium-voltage skid-mounted equipment, power plant controller (PPC), and commissioning services. The delivery scope covers everything from the energy storage units to AC-side control and grid-connection commissioning.

Albispark is also included in Portugal's Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). According to the Portuguese government's public funding transparency platform, the project implementation entity Albisparks S.A. received approximately €2.36 million in funding support for the "BESS ALBISPARK Energy Storage Installation Project," with the project completion date recorded in the government system as February 11, 2028.

Prosolia Energy disclosed the commissioning of the energy storage system on July 23, while Trina Storage's September 30 announcement further clarified the scope of equipment supply and its responsibility boundaries as the energy storage system supplier. Following project commissioning, Albispark has transitioned from a standalone photovoltaic plant to a combined solar and battery energy storage operating asset.
