Chinese Company-Built Saudi Arabia's First Star-Rated Hotel Complex Project Enters Full-Scale Construction Phase

The Madinah Super Fifth District Star-Rated Hotel Project is a key local livelihood and benchmark commercial project, and is the first star-rated hotel complex project undertaken by a Chinese enterprise in Saudi Arabia. The project has a total construction area of approximately 634,000 square meters, encompassing 10 hotel buildings, a three-story shared underground structure, 4,670 guest rooms, and 120 branded residences. Upon completion, it will integrate high-end hotels, quality residences, commercial facilities, and public services into a diversified business ecosystem, becoming one of the most functionally comprehensive and largest urban complexes in Madinah.

The raft foundation construction for the H02 plot involved a single pouring of approximately 13,000 cubic meters of concrete, placing extremely high demands on concrete supply, transportation organization, on-site pouring, vibration compaction, continuous operation, and temperature control. To ensure the large-volume pouring plan was executed flawlessly, the project team adhered to the principles of "plan first, technology first, risk pre-control," organizing raft foundation pouring simulation drills to detect potential issues of all kinds, ensuring high-quality completion of the pouring in a single operation. Through simulation, the pump station positions defined in the original plan were optimized and adjusted, effectively improving efficiency.

During the formal pouring, the project team carried out specialized technical planning for mass concrete construction, systematically deploying measures for concrete raw materials, transportation organization, pouring sequence, hydration heat monitoring, insulation and curing, and emergency support. Ultimately, the team successfully achieved the remarkable feat of completing an ultra-large-volume concrete pouring in a single continuous operation.

During the preliminary design phase, the project team addressed the pain points of large-scale complex construction by fully implementing a BIM smart construction system. Through 3D modeling, they precisely resolved cross-disciplinary conflicts among architecture, structure, mechanical and electrical systems, and curtain walls. Digital technology was applied throughout the entire process of design development, clash detection, plan optimization, and on-site construction, eliminating construction hazards at the source and reducing resource waste.

In recent years, leveraging its hardcore technical capabilities adapted to the Middle East market and its development philosophy of value co-creation, China Railway 18th Bureau Group has built the "Ruisheng" overseas super high-rise brand, building on its cumulative portfolio of 16 super high-rise buildings over 100 meters in the UAE. The entry of the Super Fifth District Star-Rated Hotel Project into the full-scale construction phase marks the extension of China Railway 18th Bureau Group's building construction advantages from super high-rises to diversified fields including high-end hotel complexes, fully furnished apartments, and urban complexes, endowing the "Ruisheng" brand with greater brand value.

It is understood that upon completion, the project will greatly fill the gaps in Madinah's high-end cultural tourism, commercial services, and urban supporting facilities, and holds important strategic significance for improving local urban functions, enhancing cultural tourism reception capacity, stimulating regional economic development, and supporting Saudi Arabia's urban modernization transformation.
