en.Wedoany.com Reported - US construction machinery company Lumina is advancing the manufacturing of its second-generation Moonlander all-electric bulldozer and has announced follow-up deployment plans for the Bladerunner excavator and Roadrunner wheel loader. CEO Ahmed Shubber previously disclosed that after approximately four years of design, the Moonlander platform has begun cutting the first steel for second-generation machines, with more units expected to enter construction sites in the coming months.

The Moonlander ML6 is an approximately 32-tonne-class all-electric bulldozer that can switch between manual cab operation, remote control, and autonomous mode. The machine delivers approximately 750 horsepower, is equipped with a 16-foot-wide blade and 36-inch steel tracks, runs for approximately 8 to 10 hours on a single charge, and charges from 0 to 80% in approximately 50 minutes. Lumina has previously conducted field testing of the machine.

The Moonlander features a modular design and, in addition to standard dozing work, can be fitted with a variety of attachments. The high-speed version can be configured with up to 9 attachments, including a 15,000-gallon water tank, a 50-cubic-yard articulated dump trailer, a 34-cubic-yard scraper bowl, and soil stabilization and cultivation equipment. The machine has a top speed of approximately 21 mph and can switch between different earthmoving and infrastructure construction tasks.

Lumina plans to deploy the Bladerunner B2 all-electric excavator in the first quarter of 2027. The machine delivers approximately 1,000 horsepower, has a maximum bucket capacity of 10 cubic yards in standard digging configuration, and swaps work modules via electrical and hydraulic interfaces. Under the company's current design, the Bladerunner can also be converted into a crane, slurry drill, and coring drill, with the crane configuration planned for a maximum lifting capacity of 2,500 tonnes and the coring configuration capable of drilling to a maximum depth of 427 feet.

The Roadrunner R2 is planned for deployment in the first quarter of 2028, in its base form as an all-electric wheel loader with approximately 800 horsepower and a 14-cubic-yard bucket capacity. Through a modular chassis and front and rear electrical and hydraulic connection systems, the platform can also be converted into a dump truck, motor grader, and compactor, with the haul configuration planned for a 150-tonne payload, the grader configuration using an 18-foot blade, and the compaction configuration using a 10-foot-wide compaction drum.

Lumina is currently focused on preparing the Moonlander for volume production. The company says it has an order backlog of approximately US$100 million in Texas and plans to expand into the New York, Florida, and California markets. At present, the Moonlander is closest to large-scale field application, while the Bladerunner and Roadrunner are scheduled for deployment in 2027 and 2028, respectively.
