en.Wedoany.com Reported - Landsvirkjun, the National Power Company of Iceland, has signed an agreement with ANDRITZ Hydro GmbH for the supply of four replacement stators for the Búrfell hydropower plant. This completes the awarding of contracts for the replacement of stators for all six generating units at the plant.

Under the agreement, ANDRITZ will be responsible for the design, manufacture, and delivery of the four stators, as well as supervising their installation. The work will be carried out over the next four years and is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2030.

The total cost of replacing the four stators is approximately ISK 2.3 billion (USD 18.9 million), with the stators themselves accounting for the largest share of the expenditure.

The first stator in this replacement program was installed in 2023, and the second is scheduled for installation this winter. Contracts for the previous two phases were awarded to other companies.

The Búrfell hydropower plant was commissioned in 1969, and its stators were first replaced at the end of the last century. ANDRITZ has previously supplied equipment to several Landsvirkjun hydropower plants, including Sultartangi, Búrfell II, and Fljótsdalur.
