en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 7, PetroChina's Bayan Oilfield, located in the Hetao Basin of Inner Mongolia, reached a daily crude oil output of 5,080 tons, surpassing the 5,000-ton mark for the first time and setting a new historical high. This marks a new level in the reserve growth and production increase in the new area of PetroChina's Huabei Oilfield.

The Bayan Oilfield, under PetroChina's Huabei Oilfield, is located in the Hetao Basin in western Inner Mongolia. The main oil reservoirs have an average burial depth of more than 5,000 meters, making them China's deepest buried integrated continental clastic rock oil reservoirs, with great difficulty in exploration and development.

Since the first high-yield industrial oil flow well was drilled in 2018, Huabei Oilfield has continued to advance into deep exploration, innovated basin accumulation theories, and successively confirmed two 100-million-ton-level integrated high-quality reserves, driving the formation of a peak growth in reserves, with the reserve replacement ratio remaining greater than 1 for many consecutive years.

Liu Jing, First-Class Engineer of the Exploration and Development Research Institute of PetroChina Huabei Oilfield: In the field of new area exploration, we have adhered to the drive of scientific and technological innovation, proposed the theoretical understanding of petroleum exploration and development in late rapid-subsidence basins, overcome the difficulties in the exploration and development of China's deep continental clastic rock oil reservoirs, and built the first million-ton-level oilfield in western Inner Mongolia in the Hetao Basin. In terms of tapping potential in old areas, we achieved a breakthrough of 100-million-ton-level benefit reserves in the long-dormant Baoding Sag, and, relying on technological research and refined development, efficiently produced medium and shallow oil and gas resources.

With simultaneous efforts in new area exploration and old area potential tapping, the capacity for resource succession has steadily improved, driving production to stabilize and rebound. Huabei Oilfield's crude oil production has stood firmly at the 5-million-ton level for two consecutive years and has continued to maintain stable production. As of the end of September, Huabei Oilfield's crude oil production this year reached 3.86 million tons, of which Bayan Oilfield's output increased by 14% year on year, and its daily production level accounted for nearly one-third of Huabei Oilfield's daily output. The positive interaction between reserve growth and production increase has accumulated referential practical experience for breakthroughs in new areas and reserve growth and production increase in China's onshore old oilfields.
