du Deploys 5G-A Indoor Network at Dubai Mall
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 6, UAE telecom operator du, in partnership with Huawei, completed the deployment of a 5G-Advanced indoor network at Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. The new network covers all floors of the shopping mall, with actual connection speeds consistently exceeding 3.5 Gbps, and is designed to enhance mobile communication capacity and indoor coverage quality within high-traffic commercial complexes.

The project deployed more than 150 antennas within the shopping mall, covering major public areas and secondary spaces. The network adopts a three-carrier aggregation scheme, with a single antenna integrating 300 MHz of bandwidth, of which the N78 band is allocated 200 MHz and the N41 band is allocated 100 MHz, in order to improve spectrum utilization and data carrying capacity in high-density indoor scenarios.
Test results published by du show that the network's data throughput is more than 50% higher than that of traditional 5G non-standalone networking. The project also employs pRRU indoor radio units to address scenarios such as the shopping mall's large area, high personnel density, and complex indoor wireless propagation environment, while enhancing continuous coverage capability across different floors and areas.
Once operational, the network can carry high-definition video, cloud applications, and real-time interactive services, and provide network connectivity for merchant terminals, digital retail systems, and other high-bandwidth services. Mall of the Emirates is operated by Majid Al Futtaim, and this 5G-A deployment is part of du's ongoing efforts to expand indoor network capabilities in large commercial and public venues.
du has previously advanced multiple 5G-A upgrades on its live network. In August 2025, the company deployed 3.7 GHz N78 and 2.6 GHz N41 dual-band 64T64R active antenna equipment with Huawei, achieving a peak rate of approximately 5.4 Gbps; in September 2026, it completed the deployment of a commercial 5G-A network with six-carrier aggregation. This shopping mall project further applies 5G-A capabilities to large-scale, high-density indoor scenarios.
