en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 8, U.S. ship repair company Eagle Drydock and Marine Services announced operational progress at its new shipyard in Bourg, Louisiana. The shipyard covers approximately 20 acres (about 80,900 square meters) and is equipped with a mobile vessel lifting device with a rated lifting capacity of 700 tons and an inner clear width of 65 feet (about 19.81 meters). The new facility has been put into operation and will expand the company's capacity for vessel haul-out, structural fabrication, and marine engineering construction along the U.S. Gulf Coast.

The new shipyard is located on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway in the United States, with a total bulkhead length of approximately 2,000 feet (about 610 meters) and a reinforced onshore working area. The published load-bearing capacity of the site is approximately 5,000 pounds per square foot, enabling the placement of hauled-out vessels and heavy repair equipment. The facility connects to the Mississippi River, the Gulf of Mexico, and other inland waterways along the Gulf Coast, and can handle vessel repair and engineering business entering the shipyard from these waterways.

The newly configured mobile vessel lifting device can lift vessels from the water and transfer them to the onshore repair area, supporting hull inspections, structural repairs, equipment removal and installation, and other maintenance work. Eagle DMS previously demonstrated actual operations including using the lifting device to hoist a barge weighing approximately 256 tons, 120 feet (about 36.6 meters) long, and 50 feet (about 15.2 meters) wide, and move it ashore for hull inspection and repair.

Eagle DMS's existing business covers vessel and barge structural fabrication, hull blasting and coating, piping installation, electrical engineering, mechanical equipment modification, and propeller and rudder system repair. The additional shoreline and onshore working space at the new shipyard will be used for vessel haul-out, parking, and multiple repair processes.
