Südpack Germany's Polish Plant Commissions High-Performance Flexographic Printing System
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 6, German packaging manufacturer Südpack announced that its flexographic printing technology center in Kłobuck, Poland, officially commissioned a high-performance flexographic printing system in September. The new equipment integrates two independent high-speed robots, which can prepare printing cylinders for up to four subsequent orders in advance while printing production continues uninterrupted. It is primarily used for printing flexible packaging materials in the food and non-food sectors.

The new system features a star-shaped arrangement of printing units and a high-precision printing shaft mounting structure, supporting ultra-wide web materials, long print repeat lengths, and high-speed printing operations. The equipment can handle packaging printing orders of varying batch sizes and, through standardized processes, reduces printing errors and improves printing consistency for continuous production and repeat orders. Shorter changeover times also enable the plant to take on small-batch production tasks alongside large orders.
The two high-speed robots configured with the equipment can automatically complete order changeovers. Operators can prepare the printing cylinders required for subsequent orders during the printing of the current order, and use radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to match carrier cylinders, anilox rollers, and printing sleeves. The system also optimizes the manual sleeve replacement process, reduces the handling of heavy adapters, and provides operator guidance.
The new printing system is capable of connecting with the Internet of Things and enterprise resource planning systems, enabling production data exchange and workflow management. Südpack plans to use the related digital functions to further optimize prepress preparation, equipment changeover, and finished product delivery processes, shortening the processing time for packaging orders of different specifications.
The Kłobuck plant is Südpack's flexible packaging printing production base in Poland, undertaking the printing and processing of flexible film materials. The newly added equipment is intended to enhance the plant's order response capability for European food and non-food packaging customers.
