en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 6, U.S. industrial heat treatment company Solar Atmospheres announced that its facility in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, has received a large titanium alloy water quenching heat treatment furnace and has begun equipment commissioning. The new equipment was manufactured by Heat Treat Equipment of Michigan, with a maximum batch processing weight of 7,500 pounds (approximately 3.4 tons), furnace temperature uniformity controlled within ±5 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately ±2.8 degrees Celsius), and water quenching transfer completed within 7 seconds. Production is scheduled to begin in November 2026.

The new heat treatment furnace is 14 feet (approximately 4.27 meters) long, 54 inches (approximately 1.37 meters) wide, and 48 inches (approximately 1.22 meters) high, installed directly above a water quenching tank with a capacity of 11,000 U.S. gallons (approximately 41.6 cubic meters). The quenching tank features a multi-directional forced agitation structure and is equipped with a closed-loop cooling system, with the quenching medium temperature controlled within 100 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 37.8 degrees Celsius).

The equipment is configured with a workpiece thermocouple temperature measurement system, which can directly collect the heat treatment temperature of titanium alloy workpieces and implement process control. The company also plans to install an in-furnace camera system to monitor the condition of workpieces when heated above the β transus temperature, and to carry out titanium alloy solution heat treatment and rapid water quenching operations.

The new equipment will be used for heat treatment of large titanium alloy components, with target customers covering the aerospace, defense, and medical manufacturing sectors.
