en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 12, India's Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and its subsidiary Tata Passenger Electric Mobility signed a formal cooperation agreement with Stellantis India, expanding their collaboration to advanced automotive technology, vehicle architectures, and product development. The new agreement plans to leverage existing engineering, research and development, and manufacturing facilities in India to develop automotive products for more than 50 global markets, with the relevant vehicles to be produced by the 50/50 joint venture Fiat India Automobiles.

Under the agreement, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles will provide Stellantis with access to its advanced product technology and vehicle architectures, while Stellantis will combine its own product development and engineering capabilities in India to carry out product adaptation and development tailored to consumer needs, regulatory standards, and vehicle operating conditions in different international markets. The cooperation covers the application of complete vehicle technology platforms, product engineering development, and subsequent manufacturing stages.

This formal agreement follows the non-binding memorandum of understanding signed by both parties on February 10, 2026. The previous scope of cooperation mainly involved potential collaboration in manufacturing, engineering research and development, and supply chains. On June 25, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles confirmed to the stock exchange that the two parties had not yet signed a final agreement; the signing on October 12 clarified the arrangements for technology sharing and vehicle architecture cooperation.

Vehicle production is planned to rely on the manufacturing base of the existing joint venture Fiat India Automobiles in Ranjangaon near Pune. The plant currently handles multi-brand passenger vehicle and powertrain production, with existing manufacturing operations involving Jeep and Tata Motors models, and also produces engines, transmissions, and traction motors. The plant's existing export markets include Japan and South Africa.

According to the division of responsibilities announced by both parties, Stellantis will use the technology and vehicle platforms provided by Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, combined with its own engineering development capabilities, to carry out product design and adaptation for international markets.
