en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 9, India's state-owned renewable energy company SECI issued a tender notice for a solar-plus-storage project in Aurangabad District, Bihar, planning to build a 120MW AC-side solar power plant and a 60MW/240MWh battery energy storage system. The project adopts an integrated engineering, procurement, construction, installation, testing and commissioning contract model, and includes 5 years of operation and maintenance services. The tender number is SECI/C&P/OP/11/0008/26-27, and the tender intent has been published.

Aurangabad District is located in Bihar, eastern India, in the southwestern part of the state. This procurement adopts a combined solar and four-hour battery storage solution. The battery system has a rated output power of 60MW and can discharge continuously for 4 hours at rated power, corresponding to 240MWh of energy. The energy storage output power is equivalent to 50% of the solar AC-side capacity.

SECI has included this solar power generation facility and battery energy storage system in a unified engineering procurement scope. The winning contractor shall be responsible for engineering design, equipment procurement, on-site construction, equipment installation, system testing and commissioning, and shall undertake 5 years of operation and maintenance work after delivery.

SECI was established in 2011 and is a Central Public Sector Enterprise under India's MNRE. It was granted Navratna status on August 30, 2024. Its business includes competitive tendering, project development and power trading for solar, wind, and hybrid solar-wind projects. The company also holds a Category-I power trading license issued by India's Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) and serves as an implementing agency for government renewable energy projects.

As of May 1, 2025, SECI has cumulatively awarded over 73.8GW of renewable energy project capacity, including 45.9GW of solar PV, 16.4GW of wind, and 11.5GW of hybrid energy projects. The company also builds renewable energy facilities through direct investment. As of September 24, its announced projects under construction and implementation include a 100MW floating solar project in Jharkhand, a 25MW solar-plus-storage project in Ladakh, and a 1200MWh battery energy storage project in Andhra Pradesh.

SECI has recently also advanced another solar engineering procurement in Bihar. On September 30, the company issued a tender for a 60MW AC-side solar power plant project in the Gaya region, covering design, equipment supply, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and operation and maintenance. The bid deadline for this project is November 12, and the tender number is SECI/C&P/OP/11/0007/26-27. This Aurangabad solar-plus-storage project and the Gaya solar project together plan 180MW of AC-side solar capacity and 240MWh of battery energy storage, with the two using separate tender procedures.
