en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 13, Canadian mining company Fortuna Mining announced the latest drilling results from the Diamba Sud gold project in Senegal, confirming deep and strike extensions of mineralization at the Southern Arc deposit. Drill hole DSR1149 intersected an estimated true thickness of 40.8 meters at an average gold grade of 3.9 g/t from a depth of 228 meters; drill hole DSR1128 intersected an estimated true thickness of 12.8 meters at an average gold grade of 7.8 g/t from a depth of 103 meters. The company also announced the commencement of exploration drilling at the adjacent Bambadji mining permit area.

Since the previous round of exploration results was published in February 2026, Fortuna Mining has completed 196 reverse circulation and diamond drill holes at the Southern Arc deposit, totaling 36,592 meters. Drilling confirmed northeast and southwest strike extensions and deep mineralization extensions beyond the existing pit design, and identified a parallel mineralized structure to the southeast. Drill hole DSR1132 intersected an estimated true thickness of 20 meters at a gold grade of 4.5 g/t from a depth of 65 meters; drill hole DSDD699 intersected 12 meters at a gold grade of 6.8 g/t from a depth of 96 meters.

At the adjacent Kassasoko deposit, Fortuna Mining completed 53 reverse circulation and diamond drill holes, totaling 8,787 meters, to test the expansion of mineralization and its connection with the Western Splay deposit. Among them, drill hole DSR1157 intersected an estimated true thickness of 27.2 meters at a gold grade of 3.0 g/t from a depth of 95 meters; drill hole DSR1169 intersected 11.2 meters at a gold grade of 4.8 g/t from a depth of 139 meters.

The April 2026 estimated probable mineral reserves for the Diamba Sud project are 20.5 million tonnes of ore at an average gold grade of 1.75 g/t, containing approximately 1.15 million ounces of gold. Fortuna Mining plans to incorporate the new drilling results from Southern Arc into the year-end 2026 mineral resource and reserve update, and to continue peripheral extension drilling in 2027.

Regarding the Bambadji project, Fortuna Mining has commenced drilling at the Kabewest exploration target, with 5 diamond drill rigs and 1 reverse circulation drill rig deployed on site. The company has allocated an $8 million exploration budget for the remainder of 2026, with plans to complete 51,000 meters of drilling. Kabewest is approximately 2.3 kilometers from the proposed Diamba Sud processing plant, and the project team has identified more than 8 priority drilling targets within the newly acquired mining permit area based on geophysical, geochemical, and geological mapping data.

Fortuna Mining plans to publish an initial inferred mineral resource estimate for Kabewest in the first quarter of 2027. Subsequent drilling will also cover target areas including Fatima, Djenebou, Latifa, Kach, Wari, and Kabetea, with the exploration program continuing through the first half of 2027.
