en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 15, TGS, a Norwegian energy data services company, announced that it has signed an agreement with PetroGuin, Guinea-Bissau's national oil exploration and development agency, securing multiclient reprocessing rights for the JAAN 3D seismic data, covering more than 11,000 km² of 3D seismic data in the country. The project will commence data reprocessing in the fourth quarter of 2026, with final deliverables expected in the fourth quarter of 2027, and will be implemented by TGS in collaboration with GeoPartners.

Building on the pre-stack depth migration (PSDM) reprocessing results completed by the two parties in 2019, the project will apply Elastic Dynamic Matching Full Waveform Inversion (E-DMFWI) and Kirchhoff Pre-Stack Depth Migration (KPSDM) technologies to upgrade the existing subsea geological imaging data. TGS plans to enhance the identification of clastic and carbonate exploration targets along the Guinea-Bissau continental margin through new velocity models and depth imaging processing, providing updated 3D seismic data for subsequent oil and gas resource exploration and evaluation.

The original JAAN 3D seismic dataset covers the MSGBC Basin in West Africa, encompassing offshore areas of Senegal, The Gambia, and Guinea-Bissau. In 2020, TGS completed the integration of over 28,000 km² of regional 3D seismic data, with processing covering both newly acquired data and existing seismic data, producing unified pre-stack time migration and depth migration results. The agreement signed with PetroGuin targets a new round of reprocessing of the data in the relevant offshore areas of Guinea-Bissau.

TGS's existing JAAN data products cover geological targets including continental shelf margin reefs, delta progradation bodies, and deepwater stratigraphy. Previous depth imaging processing employed layer-by-layer tomography to build velocity models and combined geological interpretation to optimize subsurface structural images. This round of work will introduce new full waveform inversion technology on the basis of the existing imaging results, with a focus on the relevant clastic and carbonate targets. The agreement was signed during Africa Energy Week 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa, with Alfredo Malu, General Manager of PetroGuin, and David Hajovsky, Executive Vice President of Multiclient at TGS, attending the signing ceremony on behalf of both parties.
