en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 20, U.S.-based Amazon announced at the "Invest in Germany Summit" held in Berlin that it plans to invest more than €16 billion in Germany in 2027, covering cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure, logistics networks, satellite internet, and digital content businesses. Of this, €4.8 billion will be used to expand the AWS Frankfurt cloud service region, increase investment in cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure, and advance automation upgrades at logistics centers and the construction of satellite communication networks.

The AWS Frankfurt region will receive the explicitly allocated €4.8 billion from this round of investment, mainly to expand the scale of existing cloud infrastructure and AI service capabilities. The region began operations in October 2014, and Amazon has already invested billions of euros cumulatively in the area. The AWS European Sovereign Cloud was launched in Germany in January 2026, further expanding Amazon's cloud infrastructure footprint for European customers.

In the logistics sector, Amazon is upgrading multiple fulfillment centers in Germany, introducing robotics and warehouse automation technology. Existing logistics facilities in Bad Hersfeld, Hesse; Dortmund and Werne, North Rhine-Westphalia, are undergoing modernization, with completion planned for 2027. A new logistics center in Knen, Saxony-Anhalt, is under construction, and the related logistics investment will add more than 3,000 jobs.

Amazon will also establish a second robotics and artificial intelligence research lab in Berlin, expanding R&D positions in robotics hardware, software, and systems engineering. Its satellite communications business, Amazon Leo, has been included in the Germany investment plan, with a focus on advancing satellite broadband service-related operations. In addition, the company plans to produce more than 15 Prime Video film and television works in Germany.

Data released by Amazon shows that in 2025 the company invested €15 billion in Germany, an increase of €1 billion compared with 2024; since 2010, cumulative investment has exceeded €100 billion. Amazon has more than 100 operating and office locations in Germany and employs more than 40,000 permanent staff.
