UK's Lab-Grown Leather Signs Cultivated Leather Testing Agreements with Two Luxury Brands
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 26, UK-based BSF Enterprise announced that its cultivated leather subsidiary Lab-Grown Leather has entered into paid commercial evaluation and material transfer agreements with two international luxury brands, advancing Elemental Lux™ cultivated leather into the product validation phase. The first partner brand has received initial batches of cultivated leather samples, with milestone payments invoiced; the second partner brand will conduct phased material testing, with plans to advance leather mechanical performance validation and luxury prototype fabrication in the first half of 2027.

Under the first agreement, Lab-Grown Leather has completed the preparation and delivery of initial batches of engineered cultivated skin material, with the partner brand conducting internal quality and material structure assessments. The second agreement covers a more comprehensive tanning and product development process, under which the company will supply biologically characterized cultivated leather materials to the client, who will test chemical absorption, thermal stability, collagen matrix structure, and dyeing uniformity under industrial tanning conditions.
Subsequent validation plans call for large-format cultivated leather samples of approximately A4 size, tested against conventional bovine leather as a control. Under the Phase 2 arrangement in the first half of 2027, the partner brands will evaluate tensile strength, elongation performance, tear strength, and stitch tear strength in accordance with relevant ISO test methods, while fabricating physical luxury prototypes to assess material hand feel, drape, processability, and edge finishing. The test results will be used to determine whether the material meets the minimum performance requirements for brand product development and to provide a technical basis for subsequent commercial proof-of-concept and supply agreements.
The Elemental Lux™ cultivated leather used in this collaboration employs tissue engineering technology from BSF Enterprise's subsidiary 3D Bio-Tissues, cultivating collagen tissue materials through a proprietary macromolecular crowding formulation. The relevant technology platform received a Notice of Allowance for a US patent application on October 20. Lab-Grown Leather plans to advance the collaborative projects into formal commercial proof-of-concept and product supply agreement phases in 2027, following completion of the current tanning and mechanical performance testing.
