Ooredoo Kuwait Taps Ericsson for Cloud-Native 5G Charging Infrastructure
Wedoany.com Report-Jul. 26, Ooredoo Kuwait has entered into a partnership with Ericsson to modernize its charging system, marking a significant step in enhancing its 5G capabilities. The upgrade involves the deployment of the latest version of Ericsson Charging, hosted on Ericsson’s Cloud Native Infrastructure (CNIS), and includes the integration of Ericsson’s cloud-native Charging Access Function (CAF).
The modernization is designed to support Ooredoo Kuwait’s ability to deliver advanced 5G services, strengthen its digital infrastructure, and open new business opportunities. The upgraded charging platform will enable the creation of flexible digital offerings, including configurable packages, promotions, and discounts tailored to subscribers’ needs.
Ericsson Charging is a scalable, cloud-native solution that provides real-time convergent charging, policy control, and rapid service creation. It allows operators to monetize 5G capabilities by supporting differentiated services and innovative use cases. For Ooredoo Kuwait, the solution will enhance customer experience and drive value from 5G Standalone deployment.
Ericsson’s CNIS is a standards-based, system-verified infrastructure solution for both virtual and cloud-native 5G applications. It allows deployment of containers as a service (CaaS) directly on bare metal servers, simplifying the architecture by eliminating the need for a virtualization layer. This setup ensures increased efficiency, flexibility, and reduced complexity in managing network resources.
Issa Haider, Chief Technology Officer at Ooredoo Kuwait, stated: “The deployment of the latest capability from the Ericsson Charging for 5G Standalone will empower us to better monetize our advanced 5G offerings and enhance customer experiences. This partnership marks a pivotal step in our digital transformation journey, enabling us to create new digital opportunities for our subscribers.”
Petra Schirren, President of Ericsson Gulf at Ericsson Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “We are happy to deploy the latest Ericsson Charging capabilities on Ooredoo Kuwait’s network to empower their service offerings and support their broader digital transformation goals. Underscoring our commitment to driving innovation in the region, this partnership will enhance connectivity in Kuwait and will support Ooredoo Kuwait in delivering advanced solutions that cater to the evolving needs of their customers.”
This collaboration reflects Ooredoo Kuwait’s focus on innovation and digital growth, while positioning Ericsson as a key technology partner in the region. By leveraging a flexible and future-ready infrastructure, the partnership is expected to boost the operator’s competitiveness in the evolving telecom market and support the expansion of its 5G service portfolio.
