Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 25, On August 16, Great Wall Motor (GWM) opened its manufacturing facility in Iracemápolis, Brazil, unveiling a heavy-duty hydrogen truck powered by GWM HYDROGEN-FTXT’s fuel-cell system. The truck will undergo road trials with the University of São Paulo (USP) and local partners to test real-world performance, per FTXT’s WeChat statement.
The phased trials involve FTXT engineers, GWM teams, and USP researchers, focusing on hydrogen system performance under Brazil’s diverse conditions, compatibility with green and ethanol-reformed hydrogen, and optimizing for local driving patterns. The project supports technology transfer, enhancing Brazil’s hydrogen research and market potential.
Building on a 2023 agreement with São Paulo’s government, GWM identified five refueling projects by 2024. In November 2024, FTXT partnered with Minas Gerais and UNIFEI for green hydrogen truck development and infrastructure. FTXT’s efforts align with GWM’s global sustainability goals.
Brazilian authorities view the project as vital to the energy transition. FTXT’s work on hydrogen-powered shipping and power systems aims to create a comprehensive hydrogen industry, supporting Brazil’s clean energy ecosystem and global hydrogen technology advancement.
