Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 7, Siemens Energy has delivered the first nine of 12 proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers to Air Liquide’s 200MW Normand’Hy green hydrogen production project in Port-Jérôme, France. The facility, set to commence operations in 2026, is designed to produce up to 28,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, supporting sustainable energy initiatives.

The electrolyzers were manufactured at a joint venture gigafactory in Berlin, operated by Siemens Energy and Air Liquide. This facility, one of Europe’s largest for PEM stack production, currently has an annual capacity of 1GW, with plans to expand to 3GW by the end of 2025. The advanced production site underscores the companies’ commitment to scaling up clean energy technologies.

“With partnerships like these, we are not just talking about a greener future, we are shaping it,” Siemens Energy stated on LinkedIn. The delivery of these electrolyzers marks a significant step in advancing green hydrogen production, which is expected to play a key role in reducing carbon emissions across industries such as transportation and manufacturing.

The Normand’Hy project will leverage the electrolyzers to produce hydrogen using renewable energy sources, contributing to France’s efforts to transition to a low-carbon economy. The facility’s output will support local and regional energy needs, enhancing sustainability while maintaining economic competitiveness.

This collaboration highlights the growing importance of hydrogen in the global energy transition. By combining Siemens Energy’s expertise in electrolyzer technology with Air Liquide’s experience in hydrogen production, the project strengthens Europe’s position in the clean energy sector. The Berlin gigafactory’s expansion plans further demonstrate the commitment to meeting rising demand for green hydrogen solutions.
