Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 29, India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated its Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar cells, incorporating Tata Power’s 4,813 MW of manufacturing capacity. This includes 4,533 MW from its facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, and 280 MW from Bengaluru, Karnataka. The addition raises the total ALMM-enlisted solar cell capacity to 17,880 MW, up from 13,067 MW.

Tata Power’s listed solar cells include monocrystalline PERC bifacial cells (182.2 mm × 182.2 mm, 10-busbar) with efficiencies between 22.00% and 23.70% and output from 7.27 W to 7.84 W. The list also features monocrystalline TOPCon bifacial cells (182.2 mm × 182.2 mm, 10-busbar) with efficiencies of 22.50% to 25.50% and output from 7.44 W to 8.43 W, as well as bifacial mono c-Si PERC cells (182 mm × 182 mm, 10-busbar) with efficiencies from 20% to 23.5% and output between 6.6 W and 7.75 W.

“The inclusion of our advanced solar cell technologies in the ALMM reflects our commitment to supporting India’s renewable energy goals,” a Tata Power spokesperson stated. These high-efficiency cells are designed to enhance solar power generation, contributing to the nation’s clean energy objectives.

Other manufacturers on the ALMM include FS India (First Solar’s India arm), Jupiter, Emmvee, Mundra (Adani), Premier Energies, and ReNew. This diverse lineup strengthens India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem, reducing reliance on imported cells and supporting the growth of the renewable energy sector.

The updated ALMM highlights India’s focus on advancing its solar industry through high-quality, locally produced technologies. Tata Power’s significant production capacity in Tirunelveli and Bengaluru positions it as a key contributor to India’s renewable energy ambitions, driving innovation and sustainability in solar power generation.
