Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 26, BASF SE has officially commissioned a new production line for high-performance dispersants at its Jiangbei New Material Technology Park in Nanjing, China. The facility employs Controlled Free Radical Polymerization (CFRP) technology to manufacture advanced dispersants locally, enhancing global supply capacity alongside the company’s existing site in Heerenveen, Netherlands.

Dr. Stephan Kothrade, member of the Board of Executive Directors and Chief Technology Officer at BASF SE, attended the opening ceremony. "This new plant will establish a stable local supply to support fast-growing market demand in the industrial coatings and automotive sectors. With our advanced CFRP technology for dispersants and state-of-the-art production processes, the plant will enable the green transformation of our customers in Asia with lower PCF products," he said.

"Strong partnerships define our business. By expanding CFRP production in Nanjing, together with supply from the Heerenveen site in the Netherlands, we can respond faster and provide the flexibility that our customers need to thrive in a dynamic market," said Gops Pillay, President of Global Operating Division at BASF.

Sylvain Huguenard, Vice President of Global Additives Business Management, added: "Introducing CFRP technology at the Nanjing plant reinforces our competitive edge. By delivering advanced dispersant solutions, we empower customers to lead in performance."

The Nanjing complex, operational since 2007, serves as a major specialty chemicals hub for China and the wider Asia-Pacific region. The new line significantly strengthens BASF's ability to meet rising demand for high-quality dispersants used in coatings, inks, and composite materials, where they improve pigment distribution, colour intensity, and formulation stability.

CFRP technology enables production of dispersants that support broader colour ranges and enhanced performance characteristics required by premium industrial and automotive applications, while contributing to lower product carbon footprint formulations.

The commissioning coincides with BASF's 140th anniversary of operations in China and demonstrates the company's ongoing investment in innovative, sustainable manufacturing capabilities in the region. The expanded capacity improves supply reliability and shortens delivery times for customers across Asia, supporting continued growth in high-value market segments.
