Telefónica Tech Advances Organizational Simplification Strategy Through Regional Business Sale
Wedoany.com Report-Dec.24, Telefónica Tech has reached an agreement with the technology company Hiberus for the acquisition of Telefónica Tech's businesses in Colombia, Mexico, and Chile.
The transaction, announced on December 23, 2025, involves the transfer of these operations while establishing a strategic alliance between the two companies. This partnership will enable Telefónica Tech to continue serving multinational clients in the region through Hiberus, maintaining high standards of service delivery.
The deal ensures the continuity of all labor and contractual relationships in accordance with applicable regulations. It will have no impact on the services provided to multinational customers. The Digital Operations Center (DOC) in Colombia will remain part of Telefónica Tech, continuing to operate normally and delivering the same levels of quality, availability, and operational excellence to clients within its scope.
This operation supports Telefónica Tech's strategy of growth and organizational simplification. It allows the company to concentrate on digital and technological solutions with higher added value, aligned with the Telefónica Group's primary markets: Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Brazil.
For Hiberus, the acquisition strengthens its presence in Latin America, expands its footprint in key markets, and enhances capabilities in strategic areas such as cybersecurity and cloud services. The move positions Hiberus as a leading player in the region and supports its growth toward serving North American clients.
María Jesús Almazor, COO of Telefónica Tech for Spain and America, said: "This agreement is a natural step in our evolution as a digital services company of the Telefónica Group, within the framework of the new Transform & Grow Strategic Plan. It will allow us to maintain closeness with customers and continue to offer Telefónica Tech's services with the same standards of quality and commitment."
Sergio López, CEO of Hiberus, said: "With this operation, we strengthen our cybersecurity and cloud capabilities, as we incorporate a highly specialized team that will lead our presence in Latin America. Thus, we laid the foundations for a strategic alliance with Telefónica with a long-term vision. In addition, this move allows the company to advance in our Azul Infinito strategic plan."
The agreement is subject to standard regulatory approvals and procedures typical for such transactions.
This collaboration combines Telefónica Tech’s expertise in digital solutions with Hiberus' regional expansion goals, benefiting clients through sustained service quality and strengthened technological offerings in Latin America.
