Wedoany.com Report-Dec.26, Saica Group, a leading packaging solutions provider, has acquired the paper and corrugated board recovery operations of FCC Ambito. The transaction was completed through Saica Natur, the group’s dedicated waste management and environmental services division.

The acquisition extends Saica Natur’s recovery operations across Spain, with a focus on Madrid and the northern and western regions of the Iberian Peninsula. The purchased activities primarily involve the recovery of paper and cardboard, along with other non-hazardous industrial and commercial waste streams.

Under the agreement, Saica Natur takes control of seven facilities previously managed by FCC Ambito. These sites are located in Madrid, Cáceres, Valladolid, Asturias, Vizcaya, León, and Toledo. The acquired business employs more than 150 people and generated a turnover of €33 million (approximately $38.89 million) in 2024.

Following the completion of the deal, Saica Natur now operates a total of 47 plants. This includes 36 facilities in Spain, with additional operations in France, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and Poland. The division’s workforce has grown to more than 1,700 employees.

Saica Group president and CEO Susana Alejandro said: “This is a strategic step that consolidates our presence in Iberia. This operation allows us to add a highly qualified team with recognised prestige in the sector, strengthening our value proposition for customers in the Iberian Peninsula.”

FCC Enviro CEO Íñigo Sanz commented: “This transaction is very satisfactory and is part of our policy of asset rotation and optimisation to maximise shareholder value and focus on our development strategy.”

The acquisition strengthens Saica Natur’s position as a key player in sustainable waste recovery and recycling services. By integrating these established operations, Saica Group enhances its capacity to collect, process, and supply recovered materials for use in paper production and packaging manufacturing.

This move supports the company’s broader commitment to circular economy principles. Saica Group operates through four main divisions: Saica Paper, Saica Natur, Saica Pack, and Saica Flex. These divisions work together to provide integrated solutions across the packaging value chain, from raw material recovery to finished products.

With more than 12,000 employees and operations across Europe and the United States, Saica Group continues to expand its footprint in sustainable packaging and environmental services. The addition of the FCC Ambito facilities reinforces its ability to meet growing demand for recovered paper and board, particularly in Spain and neighboring markets.

The transaction demonstrates a focus on building long-term capabilities in waste management while maintaining high standards of operational efficiency and environmental responsibility. It positions Saica Natur to deliver reliable, high-quality recovery services to industrial and commercial customers throughout the region.
