Wedoany.com Report-Dec.27, Claro Peru, a major telecommunications provider in the country, and Huawei have successfully completed the deployment of the world's first commercial EcoMatrix site. The announcement was made from Lima, Peru, on December 24, 2025.

This advanced solution features a highly integrated design that allows all sub-3 GHz frequency bands to be deployed on a single pole in a simplified and energy-efficient manner. In field tests, the EcoMatrix solution demonstrated improved performance compared to traditional setups, including 1.8 dB better coverage, a 30% reduction in required antenna installation space, and 35% savings in overall site energy consumption. These improvements support the provision of enhanced mobile network services to users in Peru and contribute to the ongoing development of digital infrastructure in the country.

Claro Peru has encountered increasing operational challenges as its network expands, including rising operational expenses, higher leasing costs influenced by wind load factors, and elevated energy use from less efficient equipment. The EcoMatrix solution addresses these issues effectively through several key advantages.

It enables simplified site setup, allowing the deployment of the 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 1.9 GHz, and 2.6 GHz bands using only three equipment boxes per site, down from 15 boxes in previous configurations.

The integrated radio units incorporate energy-efficient GigaGreen technology, delivering the observed 35% reduction in site-wide energy use. Additional savings are possible through features such as deep dormancy modes and future enhancements.

The design includes ultra-wideband radio units and antennas, along with signal direct injection feeding technology that removes the need for cables, thereby reducing signal losses and improving overall network efficiency.

The modular structure provides flexibility for future network growth. Operators can add new spectrum resources without installing additional poles or major site upgrades, enabling phased deployment based on available frequencies and protecting long-term investments.

Juan David Rodríguez, Chief Technology Officer of Claro Peru, stated: "We use Huawei EcoMatrix to deploy more bands at a tower site with a much smaller antenna footprint. Our site and spectrum are now more efficiently utilized, and our network is ready for continuous 5G evolution and flexible spectrum expansion. We are delivering better digital experience to users and contributing to Peru's digital transformation."

This successful implementation highlights the practical value of the EcoMatrix approach in creating networks that are efficient, sustainable, and adaptable to future needs. It offers a model for operators seeking to optimize resources while maintaining high-quality service delivery.
