SK Hynix has announced a major plan to establish a company in the United States focused on artificial intelligence solutions, aiming to expand its business footprint in the AI data center sector.

The new company, tentatively named AI Co., will be created through the restructuring of its California-based subsidiary, Solidigm. As part of this process, Solidigm will transfer its business operations to a new entity called Solidigm Inc., laying the groundwork for the establishment of the new company. SK Hynix will invest $10 billion in the upcoming AI company through additional funding, demonstrating its strong commitment with such a substantial investment.
In terms of business operations, SK Hynix plans to leverage its chip technology advantages, particularly by utilizing High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) to develop AI-optimized systems and enhance product competitiveness. Simultaneously, the company is actively seeking collaborations with local AI firms in the United States to consolidate its position in the AI market through resource integration and complementary strengths. A representative from SK Hynix stated, "We look forward to breakthroughs in the AI field from the new company, creating new growth opportunities for us."
