Wedoany.com Report on Feb 2nd, Norwegian oil and gas operator OKEA and its partners recently made a new oil and gas discovery in the Knockando Fensfjord exploration area within the North Sea Brage region (License PL1041). This discovery was obtained during development drilling operations targeting the area. The specific nature of the resource—whether it is crude oil or natural gas—is currently still in the laboratory analysis stage and has not yet been definitively confirmed.

Drilling data indicates that while drilling through multiple sandstone reservoirs, the well revealed a hydrocarbon-bearing interval approximately 38.5 meters thick, showing promising resource potential. The well was finally completed after drilling into the Middle Jurassic Oseberg Formation. Notably, the wellbore used for this exploration was already put into production on January 11, 2024, achieving early utilization of the resources by connecting to the existing Talisker field infrastructure.

Currently, OKEA and its partners have initiated a comprehensive evaluation of the Knockando Fensfjord discovery area, focusing on its geological reserves, resource quality, and economic viability to plan the optimal development solution. This discovery is located in the relatively well-developed mature basin of the North Sea and is expected to leverage the existing pipeline network system for subsequent development at a lower cost, injecting new momentum into maintaining regional production.
