Wedoany.com Report on Feb 4th, AMD CEO Lisa Su revealed during a recent earnings call that Microsoft's next-generation Xbox gaming console is expected to be officially released in 2027. Su stated, "The development of Microsoft's next-generation Xbox is progressing smoothly. The product will feature a semi-custom AMD SoC (System on Chip) to support the 2027 launch." This timeline aligns with previous rumors that both Sony and Microsoft will launch new consoles in the same year.

Before mentioning the release date of the next-generation Xbox, Su pointed out that the company's annual revenue from its semi-custom chip business is expected to decline significantly in 2026. This trend is anticipated, as the latest generation of consoles was launched in November 2020, now over five years ago. AMD provides the core processors for both the Xbox Series X/S and Sony's PlayStation 5.

In June of this year, Microsoft discussed its ongoing partnership with AMD. The two companies are working to "co-design chips for a range of devices, including our next-generation Xbox console." This suggests Microsoft may be expanding its business, planning to develop both a traditional home console system and a portable handheld device.

Beyond Xbox, AMD also provides processors for Valve's Steam Deck and the upcoming console-like device, the Steam Machine. During the call, Su mentioned that Valve still plans to launch the Steam Machine "earlier this year," although specific pricing has not yet been announced. Microsoft has not commented on this news.
