Wedoany.com Report on Feb 6th, The Tasmanian Government has now opened public consultation for the Hobart Northern Access Road project. This planned Northern Access Road is expected to serve as a critical infrastructure corridor, supporting future transport connections to the Macquarie Point development area upon completion.

According to the draft concept design, the new road will extend from the interchange of the Tasman Highway and Macquarie Street, curving around the northeastern edge of the City Memorial. The design for the new northern entrance to Hobart Port aims to alleviate traffic pressure on the surrounding road network.

State Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Corey Vincent, stated that this project is crucial for the future development of Hobart Port and the Macquarie Point area. He said, "The Northern Access Road provides a new northern entrance for Hobart Port and the future Antarctic precinct, while also creating conditions for the stadium construction."

"The design also includes a dedicated bus plaza to ensure public transport operations during major events, guaranteeing smooth event proceedings. The project team is engaging with key stakeholders to understand current site conditions, hear concerns, and seek solutions to minimize impacts and enhance usability," Corey added.

He emphasized that feedback from the broader Hobart community will play a crucial role in the subsequent detailed design phase. "We serve Tasmania by investing in projects like the Northern Access Road," Corey stated.
