The construction of the second Fuzhou Airport Expressway is progressing smoothly. As a crucial component of this project, the Hunan Grand Bridge spans 4,420 meters with a complex structural design. The 55-meter span sections utilize steel box girder design, while the 19 spans between piers 118 and 137 employ steel plate composite girders, involving the prefabrication and erection of 1,196 box girders in total. With the precise placement of the final prefabricated box girder, the erection of all prefabricated box girders for the Hunan Grand Bridge has been completed. This marks the full completion of the main structural construction tasks for the bridge, which has now fully transitioned to the bridge deck system and ancillary works construction phase. Meanwhile, a key control project—the right tunnel of the Choufeng Tunnel (originally Tiantou Tunnel)—has been successfully holed through, becoming the first tunnel on the entire route to achieve dual-bore breakthrough. This signifies a major milestone in the construction of the second Fuzhou Airport Expressway. The bridge-tunnel ratio of this project is as high as 91.4%. The entire route includes three tunnels with a total length of 6,588 meters, all of which are critical control projects affecting the progress of this expressway.
The Zhenghe Donggong Mountain (Louxia) Interchange and Connection Project on the Ningshang Expressway is also steadily advancing. This project is part of the Ningshang Expressway, located in Louxia Village, Yangyuan Township, Zhenghe County. Construction officially commenced in May 2024, and to date, 77% of the total project volume has been completed. Construction crews are seizing the golden construction period before the Spring Festival, making every effort to advance various construction tasks, including the pavement works for the expressway interchange section. It is expected that the entire expressway project will be fully completed by the end of August 2026. This project is one of the key projects under Fujian Province's "Two Connections" initiative, with a total investment of 217 million yuan and a total length of 10.049 kilometers. It is divided into two parts: the interchange project and the connecting road project.
The Dehua Section of the Zhengyong Expressway was recently officially opened to traffic. As an important component of the "Six Vertical and Ten Horizontal" network outlined in the "Fujian Provincial Expressway Plan (2016-2030)", the Dehua Section of the Zhengyong Expressway spans 39.949 kilometers. The route starts at Huban Village, Shuikou Town, Dehua County, Quanzhou City, passes through several townships, and connects with the Dehua Hub of the Xiasha Expressway. Three toll stations and one pair of service areas are established along the entire route. Upon opening, the Zhengyong Expressway interconnects with the Puyan Expressway and the Xiasha Expressway, becoming an important inter-provincial transport corridor for Fujian, Zhejiang, and Guangdong provinces. This further improves the Fujian provincial expressway network and vigorously promotes the interconnection and tourism resource integration between the Northeastern Fujian and Southwestern Fujian coordinated development zones.
