Wedoany.com Report on Feb 11th, a long whistle sounded at the Guangzhou International Port railway yard as the X8426 China-Europe Railway Express, loaded with high-end electronic equipment, new energy vehicle parts, and other goods, slowly departed for Poland. This marks a significant milestone: since its inaugural journey in 2013, the cumulative number of China-Europe Railway Express trips originating from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) has officially exceeded 5,000. This "steel silk road" spanning Asia and Europe has entered a new stage of high-quality development, injecting strong momentum into the high-level opening-up of the Greater Bay Area.

As of February 10, 2026, the GBA China-Europe Railway Express has transported goods with a total value exceeding 200 billion yuan and a weight of approximately 2.8 million tons. Currently, over 30 trains operate stably each week, serving more than 6,000 enterprises. It has established a high-density transportation network connecting the GBA with over 20 Eurasian cities, including Germany, Poland, and Russia, becoming a "golden corridor" for trade and economic exchanges between Asia and Europe. The continued increase in the frequency of the China-Europe Railway Express demonstrates the region's vitality in opening-up and the strength of its logistics services.

It is reported that the transportation time for the GBA China-Europe Railway Express is stable at 15 to 18 days, with carbon emissions only one-seventh of those from road transport, making it the preferred logistics choice for many enterprises. With the ongoing intelligent construction of the Guangzhou International Port, the widespread application of intelligent dispatching systems and automated loading/unloading equipment has reduced the loading/unloading time for a single train from 6 hours to 4 hours. Port clearance efficiency has improved by approximately 30%, achieving seamless integration between rail transport and customs clearance, significantly enhancing international logistics turnover efficiency.

As the industrial structure of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area undergoes optimization and upgrading, the cargo structure transported by the China-Europe Railway Express departing from the region is also changing. It has gradually shifted from being dominated by labor-intensive products such as clothing and toys in the early stages to being dominated by high-value-added goods such as new energy vehicles and parts, photovoltaic products, and smart electronics. Currently, such products account for over 70% of the total.
