Wedoany.com Report-Nov 28, The deal strengthens a 12-year collaboration, with DRS transporting over 12,000 containers monthly across key UK routes.
Direct Rail Services (DRS) has continued its long-standing partnership with the UK's largest supermarket chain. The rail division of Nuclear Transport Solutions has signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract with supermarket giant Tesco. The new contract means that DRS will continue to deliver safe and reliable rail operations as part of their established partnership.
Under the new contract, DRS will maintain its reliable rail freight services on key routes including Daventry to Mossend, Mossend to Teesport and Daventry to Manchester. These services are vital for the movement of thousands of containers each month. They help to keep shelves stocked across the UK.
„Recently, we launched Tesco’s tenth rail freight service, removing thousands of lorries from the road and saving 6,000t CO2e per year. Rail emits 76 percent less CO2 when compared to road and each Tesco train takes around 40 lorries off the road,“ said Gottfried Eymer, NTS Rail Director.
The partnership demonstrates the value that rail freight brings to the retail sector, combining reliability with reduced environmental impact. As Tesco continues to prioritize sustainability, the extended agreement with DRS ensures that the supermarket chain's supply chain remains both robust and environmentally responsible.
