Celsius Orders LNG Carrier from Samsung Heavy Industries, Fleet Expands to 24 Ships

Wedoany.com Report on Feb 24th, Danish shipowner Celsius Shipping's Celsius Tankers has recently signed an order with South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries for an LNG carrier, purchasing a 180,000 cubic meter liquefied natural gas carrier.

This order expands the scale of Celsius Tankers' LNG carrier fleet to 24 ships, further solidifying its market position in the LNG transportation sector.

Samsung Heavy Industries previously disclosed this contract in a regulatory filing, valued at approximately 3.68 trillion Korean won (about 255 million US dollars), but did not reveal the buyer's identity at the time. Celsius Shipping is actively advancing newbuilding projects for LNG carriers in China and South Korea, with plans for or currently constructing more than 10 ships of the same 180,000 cubic meter scale.

According to the schedule, the latest ordered LNG carrier is expected to be delivered by the end of May 2028.
