We design and manufacture our own products in-house in the UK, as well as producing customised electronic devices for other organisations. We also offer a comprehensive electronic repair service for almost any piece of electronic equipment. Capabilities Our capabilities include: Electronic engineering: design, development, prototyping and manufacture High speed digital logic, microcontroller, and embedded software development Audio and small-signal analogue design Electronic design consultancy and subcontracting Electronic repair, test and failure analysis PCB design and manufacture including SMT History ABELtronics was formed by Lewis Abel in around 1996 in his bedroom. His first customer, Graham Davies (http://www.challengers2.co.uk/), wanted a digital logging thermometer for monitoring the temperature of the cabin and engines (electric motors) of his model boat. Manufactured in an old sealable strawberry punnett, the ABELtronics TEMP-901 featured a digital display, high and low set point alarms and min/max temperature logging and became the first custom electronic device to be manufactured for a commercial purpose. All this when Lewis was 12 years old. At the time, the project was used as a GCSE project which gained an A-star grade. Customer growth was swift, our first trade customer being marine electrical supplier Brian Ward Electrical for whom we started to make sealed lead-acid battery chargers in 1999. Brian Wards, after fourteen years, remains a valued customer to this day, and Graham still uses us for his custom electronics. The company has grown steadily since its humble beginnings, and now occupies a purpose built workshop to the west of Norwich, Norfolk. We have a fully equipped electronics workshop, and a research and development laboratory complete with some of the most advanced and state-of-the-art electronic test and measurment equipment available. We have always believed our customers are our most important asset, and we are proud of our record of 100% customer satisfaction with our services. ABI products are designed and manufactured at its premises in the UK and exported all over the world thanks to an active distribution network throughout Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and Australia. ABI also supplies local customers in the UK and Ireland. With manufacturing capabilities suitable for prototypes and small to medium PCB batches, ABI gained a strong reputation for the complete range of services they offer to cover all aspects of contract electronics manufacturing. ABI was founded in 1983 and incorporated in 1984 as a limited company. The initial concept for the business came from a simple incident when ABI’s founder (and current owner) accidentally stepped on an electronics IC which had fallen to the floor. After picking it up, a question came to his head: “I wonder if it still works ?”. The company produced the ICT-24, the worlds first low-cost digital IC tester, and expanded rapidly as sales of this popular product grew. A move from a small factory unit in 1985 was followed just two years later into much larger premises. The company grew steadily from there, opening a second factory in 1989 and in 1998 expanding yet again to its present headquarters in Barnsley, England. The trend of increasing complexity fault diagnosis products, at ever increasing prices, was broken by ABI in 1991 with the SYSTEM 8 range which was designed and produced at a much lower cost while providing an unprecedented level of fault diagnosis capabilities. The SYSTEM 8 range remains a highly popular product amongst blue chip companies and dedicated repair centres alike. ABI continues to develop this product, taking constant account of customer comments and suggestions. ABI is known for keeping abreast of technology changes in order to offer solutions that are in response to its customers’ needs. One example was the release of the JTAGMaster which responded to the introduction of BGA devices, and therefore the need for programming and testing them. Other aspects of electronics are not neglected. The increasing problem of counterfeit components is a threat to any electronics supplier and manufacturer. ABI released in 2008 the acclaimed SENTRY Counterfeit IC Detector and was awarded the following year a Global Technology award at Productronica 2009. ABI now has 30 years experience of developing the highest quality testing and fault-finding equipment, backed by a global reputation for quality and service. It is also certified in accordance with ISO9000-2001. The system is based on an ongoing commitment to quality, professional fulfilment of duties and constant expansion and development.

The new Mechanical Analysis Division of Mentor Graphics is a world leader in the computer simulation of engineering design processes involving heat transfer and fluid flow simulation. Our customers eliminate mistakes, reduce costs, and accelerate and optimize their designs by applying our simulation software and consultancy services before building physical prototypes. With advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software, we help increase efficiency in your mechanical design process, saving valuable time and money. Our approach to engineering analysis is drastically different from traditional analysis companies because our software is designed to be embedded deeply into the design process and used by mainstream design engineers, not only by analysis specialists. Our software products and services are based around three distinct lines of business: Electronics Cooling We are the clear market leader in thermal simulation of electronic equipment, with a client list including virtually all the major electronics companies in the world. Our FloTHERM product family provides an integrated suite of software tools for thermal analysis of complete electronic systems, circuit boards, and individual IC packages. Our software removes communication barriers between electrical and mechanical engineers enabling fast resolution of thermal management problems that are traditionally difficult, expensive and time-consuming to resolve. Customers achieve significant cost reductions and design cycle compression through using our software either as point solutions or as an integrated suite. Through our MicReD subsidiary we offer thermal testing equipment that complements the software simulation business. Our "ElectronicsCooling” magazine has a global circulation of over 12,000 subscribers and is firmly established as the premier trade magazine for all aspects of thermal management in the electronics industries. Engineering Fluid Dynamics Our EFD product family is a different breed of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software that enables mechanical design engineers to analyze and optimize complex fluid flow and heat transfer processes across a wide range of products and industries. 7 key technologies distinguish the EFD product family from traditional CFD software, making it quicker and easier to use, more robust, and more accurate. The EFD product family is tightly embedded with leading 3D mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) software such as SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER and CATIA V5. In the case of SolidWorks, the product is sold through the SolidWorks sales channel under the brand name COSMOSFloWorks. Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Our FloVENT software predicts 3D airflow, heat transfer and contamination distribution in and around buildings of all types and sizes. The software is tailored for building designers, with an easy-to-use menu system developed specifically for the design and optimization of heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. Our EFD software is also widely used in the HVAC industry for optimizing the performance of products such as air handling units, refrigeration units, heaters, etc. International Offices In order to provide the best possible service to all our customers, we are committed to establishing local sales and support offices and dedicated agents around the world. This strategy has been vitally important in building international sales and maintaining global market leadership. The AC-ROV is ......AC-CESS and their engineering partners at All Oceans looked at exsistng small ROV technologies and set to improve upon them. Principal design drivers were size, mobility, robustness and overall portability. The AC-ROV is a full five degrees of freedom underwater video camera and sensor platform. This manoeuvrability is essential as other underwater inspection vehicles do not have the mobility to work in confined spaces. 4 horizontal thrusters operate together to power the AC-ROV forward, back and sideways. Their “vectored” arrangement is like having 4 forward and 4 side, or lateral thrusters. This is the thruster set up on the vast majority of serious commercial ROVs because lateral power and speed is as important as forward power and speed. One is used to get you to the target, the other is for keeping you face onto the target. More often than not any current at a target will not be head-on, but SIDE-ON, so serious inspection requires serious lateral flight capability. This is why the AC-ROV can fly as fast sideways as it can forward and back, or more importantly, hold station in a given current coming from any direction. There are also 2 vertical thrusters for up, down and tilt control. To make the most of the AC-ROV’s manoeuvrability, the system uses a completely intuitive 3D controller with a single handed grip that can be moved in any direction, rotated and tilted. The AC-ROV responds by moving in the same way that the grip is moved. Controlling more movements than any single-handed joystick, it is still easier to use, simply because it doesn’t require brain power. The controller incorporates an array of powerful flight assist functions: Flight Freeze / Flight Un-freeze / Progressive Forward Flight, Vertical Trim and Tilt / 3 stage Power Increment / Camera switching. With a “fly through” size of 190mm and a “drop through” size of 210mm, the AC-ROV can get into seriously small spaces. The unique AC-ROV thrusters do not have central shafts and the inward pointing blades do not meet. Apart from being very resistant to fouling, they provide full bore equal thrust in both directions. This is not the case for shaft mounted thrusters which normally have a motor right in the middle of the flow path and a shaft just waiting to foul up. The design results in an overall power to weight ratio 50 -100% greater than other small ROV. All these market leading attributes are delivered in an extremely robust, reliable, modular design. Its inherent strength and serviceability means that the AC-ROV keeps coming back for more. See FAQs for quick answers to your questions or contact us with your enquiry.
