In the 1970s process instrumentation was almost intended as instrumentation for heavy industry (i.e.thermoelectric, petrochemical, mills, nuclear and so on) which particularly in those years had to face a critical period due to the petrol crìsìes. That period introduced the decline of the "heavy" industry as a means of global development whereas a new type of industry was promptly growing up, i.e. "light industry" such as electronics, plastics, packaging, foodstuffs, pharmaceutical, engine construction and so on... This emerging type of industrialisation had new and up-to-date requirements which needed new solutions. In the 80s Italcoppie grew up and made a name for itself facing and solving the new needs by transferring and implementing its technological experience gained from the heavy industry towards light industry. At the end of 80s Italcoppie had already gained a recognised leadership in temperature measurement, and both quality and market presence level where very significant in most industrial fields.
