It evolves. It deepens. It is expressed in an ever-changing corporate culture, in transformational strategies, and in new and compelling offerings for customers. IBMs character has been formed over nearly 100 years of doing business in the field of information-handling. Nearly all of the companys products were designed and developed to record, process, communicate, store and retrieve information -- from its first scales, tabulators and clocks to todays powerful computers and vast global networks. IBM helped pioneer information technology over the years, and it stands today at the forefront of a worldwide industry that is revolutionizing the way in which enterprises, organizations and people operate and thrive. The pace of change in that industry, of course, is accelerating, and its scope and impact are widening. In these pages, you can trace that change from the earliest antecedents of IBM, to the most recent developments. You can scan the entire IBM continuum from the 19th century to the 21st or pinpoint -- year-by year or decade-by-decade -- the key events that have led to the IBM of today. We hope that you enjoy this unique look back at the highly textured history of the International Business Machines Corporation.

These innovations led to the founding of the company in 1985 with the introduction of the Model LK2000 HREELS spectrometer, which has seen wide use in university and industrial research laboratories worldwide. A few years later the company introduced the first commercial digital control electronics for HREELS (Model LK2000-DAC) which made the technique much more user-friendly and more productive for the surface scientist. The LK2000 became the "workhorse" of commercial HREELS and along with the LK2000-DAC helped to establish LK Technologies as the world leader in HREELS. In recent years the company has introduced the ultrahigh resolution (0.5 meV) ELS3000 spectrometer based on research carried out at the KFA, Juelich, Germany. The ELS3000 combines the electron optics design of the KFA with LK Technologies expertise in low noise digital control systems to produce a spectrometer geared for very high performance in surface vibrational spectroscopy. With the dual offering of the versatile LK2000 and the ultrahigh resolution ELS3000 LK Technologies continues its leadership role in commercial HREELS. Following the success of the LK2000 the company introduced several new products for surface analysis applications. These include a complete line of reverse view LEED/AES systems (RVL2000), a versatile, compact electron energy analyzer (MINICMA™), the NGI3000 ion gun and the EG3000 electron gun. The latest addition to our HREELS product line is the ELS5000 ultrahigh resolution spectrometer. In addition to the above products the company specializes in building complete UHV systems which combine several surface analysis methods from LK Technologies components as well as other manufacturers. Systems delivered, for example, have combined HREELS, LEED/Auger, STM/AFM, mass spectrometry (thermal desorption), CVD film growth and have included advanced sample preparation and handling systems. The emphasis at LK Technologies has always centered on the development of innovative and reliable products with the goal of complete customer satisfaction. The company is grateful for the opportunity to work with surface scientists the world over these many years and looks forward to the opportunity to do so in this new millenium. We hope you will contact us at our main headquarters or one of our representatives listed under contacts.

Draper in 1902 to manufacture window shades for schools, and that was Drapers primary product for the next 60 years. In 1918 Mr. Draper was joined by his son-in-law, Elmer Pidgeon. Mr. Draper later became a prominent state politician and Elmer Pidgeon assumed management of the company in 1938. Elmer Pidgeons son, Luther, joined the firm in 1940 and became its President in 1960. He continued in that capacity until his death in July 2004. In 1957 Luther Pidgeon secured a patent on an inexpensive classroom projection screen, marking Drapers entry into the screen business. Today, projection screens and related products are the largest component of Draper’s business. Draper manufactured products closely related to projection screens include rear projection display systems, video projector mounts and lifts, plasma display mounts and lifts, and presentation easels. In 1989 Draper introduced FlexShade Systems, a second line of window shades designed for the commercial market. In 1994 Draper entered the gymnasium equipment market. Today, the companys gymnasium equipment products include basketball backstops, gym dividers, wall pads, volleyball equipment, batting cages and wrestling mat hoists. In addition to its Spiceland, Indiana facilities, Draper has manufacturing operations in Malta, OH, and sales offices in Fullerton, CA Blackwood and Corby, United Kingdom. Scientific instrument importation was not possible after the outbreak of World War II. Consequently, Mr. Rudolph began to manufacture a standard line of polarimeters, and undertook the custom design and manufacture of instrumentation for universities and laboratories. Since that time, the company has been engaged in research, design, manufacture, sales and service of products utilizing light as a measurement medium. In 1970, the company changed its name from O.C. Rudolph & Sons, Inc. to Rudolph Research Corporation. The name was changed to reflect the modern and innovative philosophies of the company. Rudolph Research began expanding its products to include a standard line of automatic ellipsometers, polarimeters and saccharimeters, as well as accessories for those instruments. Various models of these instruments are used in pure and applied research by universities, independent laboratories, government laboratories and industry. In addition, Rudolph Research production ellipsometers find widespread application in the semiconductor/integrated circuit industry where the measurement of film thickness in the angstrom region is important. Automatic polarimeters are used for research and process control in the pharmaceutical, food and beverage, chemical and related industries. Automatic saccharimeters are used routinely by sugar growers, processors, and refineries, as well as by governments to regulate both domestic and international sugar trade
