The Company is a small, closely held corporation, which offers products that are 100% Made in the USA. The Company was founded in 1968 by Dr. Robert W. Zimmerer, a former physicist at the National Bureau of Standards located in Boulder, Colorado. The Company was conceived as a producer of scientific measurement devices utilizing substantial technical expertise. Scientechs first product line was the original beamless electronic balance, which Dr. Zimmerer had invented. Scientech was also the first American balance manufacturer to utilize microprocessor technology in its line of electronic top-loading balances. This line included the first external keyboard for balances, which could select various functions such as parts counting, statistics, and weight averaging. Soon after introducing the balance line, Scientech marketed the first commercial laser power and energy measurement system based upon prototypes developed by the National Bureau of Standards. Dr. Zimmerer pioneered the commercial viability of thermopile-based devices, which were rugged, self-calibrating, and extremely accurate. The Company has since developed entire lines of laser measurement systems for both continuous wave and repetitively pulsed lasers. Currently Scientech is housed in its own facility located at 5649 Arapahoe Avenue, Boulder, Colorado. Although a small business, Scientech is known as an industry leader for accuracy and quality. The Company is a Just-In-Time/Total Quality Control manufacturer dedicated to customer service and satisfaction. Both product lines carry the prestigious "CE" mark of conformity. All products are designed in-house utilizing the Companys engineering team coupled with multiple CAD systems. Scientech offers three lines of electronic precision balances. They are: • New Zeta Series balances with new patented weighing technology (14 various models) • Series 12000 line of electronic balances (46 various models) including semi-micros (0.01mg) • HC Series of electronic balances(4 various models) All models include standard features such as an RS232 data interface, zero tracking, automatic calibration, real time temperature compensation software, vibration filtering and parts counting. Scientechs line of laser power and energy measurement systems both calorimetric and pyroelectric technologies. Able to measure from nano joules to kilowatts, these systems offer numerous features and capabilities. The new versatile Synenergy Vector indicators are capable of measuring CW or pulsed lasers with either calorimetric, pyroelectric, or photodiode detectors while displaying the measurements using either digital, analog, or a combination display. Scientech also features the widest selection of large aperture calorimeters and specials, which are used for unique laser measurement applications such as fusion research facilities.

SFTC acquired from Battelle the DEFORM business in October 1991, and is currently supporting hundreds of user sites worldwide. DEFORM is the one of the most widely used FEM (Finite Element Method) software for metal forming and die analysis by the industry. DEFORM serves the aerospace, automotive, off road, general transportation, fastener, oil field, ordinance and many other industries with state of the art simulation capabilities in deformation and die stress analysis. It has been used to solve metal forming problems, optimize processes, and analyze loads and stresses on forming dies for thousands of industrial cases throughout the 1990s. DEFORM was first released in its 2D workstation version in 1989. In 1993, DEFORM-3D was released to analyze full three dimensional problems on engineering workstations. DEFORM-PC was released in 1994, making this powerful technology available to small to medium sized forming plants. SFTC staff has extensive experience in developing FEM software to analyze metal forming operations. While at Battelle, SFTC principals developed DEFORM and ALPID. The ALPID program, developed under the funding support from U.S. Air Force, is regarded as the first practical FEM based analysis tool with an industrial user base applied to production metal forming applications. SFTC staff has more than two decades of industrial experience in forging and extrusion design and development. This experience is applied not only to develop the DEFORM System, but also to support, train and guide the users to solutions that work. In addition, SFTC staff has extensive experience and background in conducting contract research for and providing consultation to both large and small companies. SFTC is located in Columbus, Ohio and has extensive computing resources for program development and contract research. These include personal computers, workstations and high performance cluster computers. These computers are inter-connected through a high speed local area network. SFTC also maintains close interactions with leading universities worldwide. As a member of the Engineering Research Center for Net Shape Manufacturing (ERC/NSM) at the Ohio State University, SFTC has access to the facilities, staff and other resources of this leading institution.
