The company philosophy has been to continue to reinvest in itself with a research and development budget that is 100 percent above the national average for instrumentation companies. The companys growth has been primarily achieved by supplying the needs of scientists and researchers studying the physical properties of metals and ceramics at very low temperatures. Within the past decade, Lake Shores staff of physicists, material scientists, and engineers have expanded the line of cryogenic temperature sensors and instrumentation to include instrumentation and systems for studying magnetic properties of materials. The magnetic measurement product group includes a complete line of benchtop and handheld gaussmeters and Hall probes, vibrating sample magnetometers, electromagnets, magnet power supplies, and Hall generators. Lake Shore is constantly seeking new markets for present technology and acquiring new ideas and patents by license, purchase or informal associations. The company holds several of its own proprietary technologies. Over the years, Lake Shore has received five "IR-100" awards, demonstrating our successes as this award recognizes research and development projects which have been successfully brought to the market place. Honeywell, General Electric, Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, and Hewlett-Packard are among the competitors for this recognition. Today, Lake Shores influence extends far beyond the borders of the United States. The company has been honored by Ohio with the state Excellence in Exporting Award for successfully meeting the challenges of developing overseas markets. As the industry transitions from business computer-based applications to feature-rich consumer products, chipmakers are challenged to mass produce highly sophisticated devices. To keep pace and meet demanding production requirements, semiconductor manufacturers will need to invest in highly versatile and reliable wafer fabrication equipment. As the market leader in plasma etch and a leading supplier of single-wafer clean products, Lam Research strives to consistently deliver the technical capability and cost-effective performance our customers require. With corporate headquarters located in Fremont, California, the Company maintains a network of facilities throughout North America, Europe, and Asia to meet the complex and changing needs of its global customer base. Plasma etch and wafer cleaning processes are critical steps semiconductor device manufacturing and used numerous times throughout chip fabrication. Etch processes are used to create the finely delineated features in conductive and dielectric layers. Wafer cleaning removes residues and particles after etch or photoresist strip or to prepare a wafer surface for subsequent processing steps. With each new technology node, the number and complexity of etch and clean steps increase significantly, providing ongoing need for innovation.

When suppliers couldn’t keep up with his demand for pressure washers, he started manufacturing them himself. The brand name was coined when the company’s name evolved from “Linton and Associates” to “L-and-A” and ultimately to “Landa.” Within 30 years Landa became North America’s largest manufacturer of industrial pressure washers with more than 300 hot and cold water models as well as a broad line of automatic aqueous parts washers and wash-water treatment and recycling systems. In 1998, Landa was purchased by the Harbour Group, a Midwest investment firm, and Landa became a flagship brand for the new company, C-Tech Industries. Five years later C-Tech was sold to Kärcher, the world’s largest manufacturer of pressure washers with headquarters in Germany. Today Landa is the premier brand of industrial pressure washers with the largest network of independent dealers in North America.
