This companys excellent service, quality and competitive pricing skyrocketed it to become an industry leader in its first 10 years. Memphis Glove was a pioneer in developing top quality imported leather gloves and was the first in the industry to use telemarketing as an efficient sales tool. Memphis Glove offered one of the widest selections of hand protection in the industry and their service and quality were second to none. River City Protective Wear was formed in 1981 as an affiliate of Shelby to market and distribute protective clothing for industrial use. River City utilized the marketing system and philosophies as well as customer base of Memphis Glove to become a leader in its industry. River City marketed a broad line of protective garments to protect workers. Crews Incorporated was formed in 1984 to market and distribute protective eyewear for industrial use. Again leveraging its affiliation to Memphis Gloves customer base and marketing philosophy, Crews grew into the worlds largest producer of protective eyewear. Shelby Specialty Gloves was formed in 1985 to manufacture and distribute special purpose gloves through safety and fire equipment distributors for unique applications such as fire-fighting and first responders to more normal operations such as welding and foundry. MCR Safety was created on January 1st, 2004, when three of these industrial safety companies consolidated into one. Our name tells it all! Memphis Glove, Crews Incorporated, River City Protective Wear (MCR). All three companies were leaders in the personal protection equipment (PPE) industry and have enjoyed tremendous success as independent companies and are achieving even greater success with the combined products and talented workforce. The consolidation of MCR Safety unites over thirty plus years of successful PPE knowledge, superior service and consistent quality. The Company sells their products exclusively to safety equipment distributors and ships products through three distribution centers in the U.S. The companys main warehouse is in Memphis, Tennessee, we also operate warehouses on the East and West Coast, which enables us to service the majority of our customers within two days. The dedication of the workers in each of these centers to quick service is another reason for the Companys continued success. The first Merrychef combination oven was produced in 1960. The original ‘Artica’ oven stood over 5’ 8” in height, weighed close to 500 pounds, and required more than two days for installation and start-up. Contrast that to today’s top selling Merrychef 402s oven, designed for a countertop application, weighing less than 180 pounds - which can be in full service in less than one hour. The ‘Artica’, and model 605 that followed were the centre-piece of many famous London cafés and bars in the ‘Swinging Sixties’, including Joe Lyons Tea Bars and the infamous Tramp nightclub. They were also installed in large numbers in frigates and battleships built for The Royal Navy and the first diesel and electric trains run by British Rail. Forty-five years on, the World’s armed forces and most successful rail operators still use Merrychef ovens to power their galleys, but by far the largest users are fast casual restaurants, supermarkets, c-stores, contract caterers, hotels and fine dining outlets. Merrychef accelerated cooking ovens utilize a combination of microwave energy and high speed convection heating to produce consistent, high quality results. The Merrychef 503 can fully cook and tantalizingly finish two 3 pound chickens in 15-16 minutes - up to six times faster than conventional cooking. Other models provide even faster cook times. See the Cooking Time Comparison Chart (provided) for additional comparisons. Using wind tunnel-type technology and advanced computer modeling, Merrychef and Manitowoc Foodservice engineers optimized the flow of convection air within the cook chamber. This results in consistent, attractive product appearance and superior retention of moisture as compared to similar technologies. Merrychef and Manitowoc Foodservice were issued patents on this exclusive air management system Designed in the style of a “smart” automobile ignition key, the Merrychef MenuKey® can be fitted into any current model oven and once inserted immediately transfers up to 99, three-stage cooking programs into its memory. The MenuKey™ eliminates the need for on-site programming, minimizes training requirements, and contributes to consistent, high quality results without skilled culinary personnel. “The power to deliver good food faster” and without the costs of ownership associated with many other cooking technologies - that’s the capability of Merrychef.
