For over thirty years Hoffer Flow Controls has been designing and manufacturing quality turbine flowmetersand related process instrumentation. Our initial experience was in the field of cryogenic flow measurement. Today our reputation in this field is synonymous with quality. The development of the modern turbine flowmeter can be traced back to David Potter, founder of Potter Aeronautical. Potter pioneered the development of the turbine flowmeter for the Navy in the 1940s. The initial application for the Potter turbine flowmeter was in fuel flow measurement for Navy aircraft. Today fuel flow continues to be an ideal application for the turbine flowmeter. Throughout the 1950s and early 1960s business at Potter Aeronautical of Union, New Jersey thrived. Potter held exclusive patents on the design of the turbine flowmeter. Potter Aeronautical began licensing the turbine flowmeter to other companies, both domestic and internationally. At the time Potter Aeronautical closed in 1968, its’ production manager was young engineer named Ken Hoffer. Ken then founded his own turbine flowmeter company…Hoffer Flow Controls. For the first ten years in business Hoffer Flow Controls specialized in cryogenic flow measurement systems. Hoffer pioneered the use of the turbine flowmeter in cryogenics. During the late 1970s we began to diversify into other markets, including oil patch, chemical and petro-chemical, aerospace and energy measurement. More recently, we have introduced our products to the European Common Market, Central and South America and the Far East. A key feature in our high precision turbine flowmeter that differentiates them from other turbine flowmeters is the hybrid ceramic ball bearings. Designed to tolerate gas spinning during cool-down in any cryogenic fluid application, this type of bearing will far outlast all other types of open race bearings in any clean liquid or gas application. Open race ball bearings, as used by other manufacturers depend on the flowing fluid for lubricity therefore, open race bearings can fail quickly. Our flowmeter with the self-lubricating ceramic bearing will far outlast other turbine meters with conventional bearings. Today Hoffer Flow Controls manufactures high precision turbine flowmeters, not only for the cryogenic industry but is the world leader in turbine flowmeter technology for the measurement of clean liquids and gases throughout the processing industries. Company Policy Hoffer Flow Controls, Inc, is committed to the Quality System established by ISO 9001 that ensures our ultimate success by continually satisfying customer needs, improving performance, and making us competitive in the world market. Company Objective Only through the continuing partnership of customer, company and employee can Hoffer set the quality standard for customer satisfaction and sustain a Worldwide leadership role in turbine flowmeter technology.

TBS coupled with the Conscious Company initiatives of personal continuous improvement, through which Tuthill encourages its employees to reach for a higher level of greatness, allows for excellence not only in the products we manufacture but in the people we employ and customers we serve. The end result is a company you can depend on, one that eliminates waste in our processes and provides superior products, quality and value for our customers. Tuthill Corporation has been on a journey to become a Conscious Company since 2005. At Tuthill we strive to create an environment where individuals are both motivated and effective. One of the ways that this is accomplished is by treating people as the great individuals that they are instead of as business objects. With unwavering confidence that each and every one of our employees has the potential to become a Radical Leader, Tuthill has invested a large amount of time in teaching the principles of a Conscious Company and Radical Leadership at all levels within the organization.Starting at the top with Jay Tuthill, Chairman and CEO, the Conscious Company principles are spreading rapidly throughout the organization. It all began with two distinct three-day sessions that were attended by Jays leadership team and then pushed down to managers and supervisors throughout the organization. It is one thing to send everyone off to leadership training to strengthen their skill sets, but its another to teach it yourself. Not only did Jay participate as a teacher in these events, but he changed his title from Chief Executive Officer to Chief Environmental Officer, which firmly plants his flag in his commitment to creating a great place to work. According to Tom Carmazzi, President and COO, "He talks about what it means to be a radical leader, about becoming fully aware and responsible for achieving what you want. Its a huge statement to have him being the leader of this endeavor. Hes not just saying it hes standing up in front of the room and living it."Now that the leadership and supervisors have completed this training they are being called forth to teach the materials to the remainder of the Tuthill population. These materials have been broken down into smaller four-hour blocks and almost all Tuthill employees have been exposed to some level of this training. Some of the key topics covered in this training are awareness, responsibility, intention, choice, and impact. Awareness: The primary objective in this training is to turn up the awareness of whats going on with the thoughts and feelings inside of you, the people next to you, and in the world around you.Responsibility: With awareness comes a whole world of choice and possibility that can lead one down a path of creating exactly what he or she wants. Being response-able is a very powerful option should you choose to exercise it. Dont walk through life as a victim with your head hanging low, instead pick up your head and make a choice that will lead you down a better road. Dont belittle people around you, instead call them forth to be great and see what can be accomplished then. Dont steal credit from people or do things in their place because your way is better, instead honor their achievements and learn from how they did it.Intention: Employees are asked to take a deep look at what they want personally and to speak up about it so that an overlap between their wants and the company wants can be identified. Once this occurs employees become both more motivated to come to work everyday and more effective at what theyre working on. Choice: Understand what options are available to you. Sometimes you need to think outside of the box and sometimes you will need help. Remember to ask for it if you need it, then pick. If your choice doesnt have the impact you desire just pick another option and try again.Impact: Watch what youve created unfold right before your very eyes. If its not what you intended, take a closer look at the options youve exposed and the choices youve made. The possibilities are without bounds! A fundamental understanding of these core concepts sets the framework for understanding what a Conscious Leader truly is. "A Conscious Leader is aware and awake to what is, while completely responsible and at choice for creating what she or he wants!" Its wonderful that the benefit of becoming a Conscious Company doesnt stop here within the walls of Tuthill. In the words of Tom Carmazzi "We have embarked on a journey that we believe will have impact outside of Tuthill. In fact, our vision statement describes our desire to have seismic impact on the world, and we will accept nothing less."
