Two highly motivated young men put all of their knowledge, enthusiasm and talents into the founding of a company to manufacture defrosting and regeneration equipment. The breakthrough into the global, commercial-kitchen market came in 1982 when, as a team, Dipl. Kfm. Frank Dittmann and Dipl. Ing. Werner Schwarzbäcker began with the production of a fully electronic controlled combi steamer that distinguished itself because of its wide range of applications. The success proved CONVOTHERM right and since then production facilities have been repeatedly expanded to provide for more capacity. In 1983 CONVOTHERM moved into its newly constructed company building in Eglfing. As early as 1989 the company already needed more space and rented additional production floor-space in Huglfing and finally added even more to this with space in Weilheim. In 2001 CONVOTHERM consolidated these plants in a newly constructed and highly modern production facility on the company’s premises in Eglfing. Since October of 2001 CONVOTHERM products are being produced on over 6000 m2 of production floor-space. Today CONVOTHERM combi steamers ar the centre of food preparation in top restaurants, hotels, group meal services, commercial kitchens, hospitals, supermarkets, catering services and even luxury cruise ships.With 33 base models Convotherm offers the greatest variety of combi steamers in the world. Young Companies but Extensive Experience There is no contradiction: Company owners and staff have long lasting experiences in manufacturing of milling cutter bodies, inserts and arbor systems as well as Solid carbide Tooling. This is the foundation for 2 separate companies to form an alliance. Our tool-range is the base for an extraordinary tooling system. Franz-Josef Pokolm started already in the 80s with development and production of milling cutters for Mould Making, Die Shops, Machine Building, Model Making and Tool Making. In 1994 he formed his own company POKOLM-Frästechnik GmbH with the goal of offering modern tooling systems to the market. After only 3 years, the company moved to new production- and office-premises for administration, stock, production and an area for seminars and training in Harsewinkel. The company grow quickly and today we employ 50 people on 27000 sq.ft.facility. Voha was established in 1988 in Lindlar. With only 2 people a production of high performance solid carbide end mills was started. Since 1996, they have started to change production only to those high sophisticated products, which were required by Mould– and Die-Shops, Model- and Tool-Makers. The company grew quick and from 1996 onwards moved to new premises for administration, production and training and is still growing fast. Instead of selling under the VOHA-product name, the Tosec-Werkzeuge GmbH, acting as a retailer for Pokolm- and Voha-products was integrated in the group. Voha and Tosec employ 20 people today on 11000 sq.ft.facility.

Soon thereafter, the company developed the first mobile and stationary piston compressors. A start was made with screw compressor technology in 1980 with a full range of 2.2 - 400 kW motor drive output compressors.
