The cosmic scene captured by the Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) is truly magnificent. In this image, two spiral galaxies in the lower right immediately catch the eye: NGC 7537 (right) and NGC 7541 (left). This pair of galaxies is located in the direction of Pisces and appears about 160,000 light-years apart in the sky.

Even in the vast universe, galaxies occasionally encounter each other. Although both galaxies currently maintain their clear shapes, as they gradually approach under the influence of mutual gravity, their distortion is expected to become increasingly pronounced. Eventually, in the not-too-distant future, they are likely to merge into a single larger galaxy.
