On May 18, the rocket tank integral dome panel developed by the High-Performance Precision Forming team from Dalian University of Technology successfully rolled off the mass production line at Tianjin Yongxing Technology Co., Ltd. The propellant tank is the main structure of a rocket, and its dome is extremely difficult to manufacture due to complex stress conditions and the need to be pressed from extremely thin sheets. The team from Dalian University of Technology discovered that aluminum alloys exhibit a "dual enhancement effect" under ultra-low temperature conditions—instead of becoming brittle, they become harder and tougher. This led to the development of ultra-low temperature forming technology, fundamentally solving the coexisting problems of cracking and wrinkling during the forming of large, ultra-thin shells. Traditional processes require about 20 steps and take days or even tens of days, whereas the new process shortens the manufacturing cycle by approximately 90% and increases material utilization to over 85%. Researcher Fan Xiaobo from Dalian University of Technology described the difficulty of manufacturing the dome as: "It's like a very smoothly spread bedsheet—it easily wrinkles with just a press or a sit."

Previously, this integral dome panel completed flight verification aboard the CZ-7A Y14 rocket in September 2025. Currently, Dalian University of Technology and Tianjin Yongxing Technology have jointly established the first ultra-low temperature forming technology production line, with an annual capacity exceeding 1,000 pieces. The team has achieved mass production of aluminum alloy integral domes with a diameter of 4 meters and is advancing the research and development of even larger-sized products
